Anyone Driving Down Via I-75 Spent The Night In Perry, GA Area?

It's been 10 years since we've driven to Disney but for our next trip DH would like to for a "change". It's a change alright!!! ;) At least my boys are 12 and 15 now. We have driven straight thru many times but it's a 12 hour drive from where we live. I refuse to do that anymore so we were trying to decide on where to stop for the night. We probably won't be leaving until early afternoon so I thought 6 1/2- 7 hours of driving would be quite enough. That would put us somewhere in the area of Perry or Cordele. Do you have any motel recommendations for that area? I was also looking at Tifton but that's a little farther than I wanted to drive. Any suggestions/opinions would be most appreciated.

Thanks!
Carla

We have stayed twice in Perry on our drive from northern Indiana. We stayed both times at the Holiday Inn on the west side of I-75, it's where the Green Derby restaurant is...which had a nice hot buffet for breakfast.

We now drive straight through (17-18 hours)--thanks to a dvd player!, but we always stop at the chik-fil-a in Perry as a tradition!

Have a great trip!

Thanks for the reply firecracker. That particular Holiday Inn was one of my top choices when searching online. It comes with a full breakfast doesn't it? That sounds good!!! We also have a DVD player but I'm the one whining about the long drive!!!

We always drive to WDW, whether it's been from here in Indiana or when we lived in Toronto, Ontario. Our girls are literally road warriors... we've made so many road-trips over the years (Toronto to here and back, Toronto to New Brunswick and back, Toronto to WDW and back, Toronto to WDW to New Brunswick and back...) that we almost have it down to a science. Lots of people call us crazy, but we'd rather drive than fly - to each his/her own, I guess! :teeth:

The only time we've driven from here in Indiana, we stayed in Cleveland, TN just off I-75.

If you're definitely going to be doing the I-75 drive, you really might want to get your hands on the book "Along I-75" (you can find out here http://www.i75online.com/ where to pick one up.) We used it when we took our last trip back in Dec 2003/Jan 2004 (sob! Too long ago!) and we found it really, really helpful. It has lots of interesting information about the area you'll be driving through, and each exit is shown with all the food, lodging, whatever-you-want-to-know, it's-there info as well. I just wish there was a similar book for each and every Interstate highway out there!

We even made our last trip in a New Beetle - yup, all four of us, plus all of our luggage! (See, I told you we almost have it down to a science!) ;) Granted, we now no longer have the Beetle (bummer, because we got excellent gas mileage on it - less than 2 tanks for a 1-way trip!) but I'm always ready to make another drive down whenever we have the opportunity!

Have a great trip!

oh, and Hi Firecracker! :wave2:

It's always nice to meet another Disney fan who's nearby! (Even if it's only a virtual meeting here on the Dis!) :teeth:

I read about the "Along I-75" book online and I'm buying it!!! It looks like it would be super for our trip. ::yes:: Thanks for the tip.
