I was just wondering how busy the tunnel is now. We are due to drive in 3 weeks time and I noticed our booked shuttle time is no longer available so I am guessing we will be moved to the nearest one to our time slot (we were booked on the 6:20am and now there is a 6:05am which was not an option when we booked.) Also I have noticed that all crossings for the morning we are going are now marked as sold out. So what time do you think we will need to get to the tunnel to make sure we get on the 6:05 crossing? We don't want to have to wait 90 minutes for the next crossing (or waste precious park time!). Would an hour before hand be OK, then making sure we get straight into the car when our letter is called?

i was confused the same as u - as on the days we travel, there are diff times and the our time is still showing but u cant book (says sold out). i thought maybe the other trains were extra to ours, as ours had sold out (think the extra for us is 7:32 or sumthin like that).
i would guess if our train wasnt running they wud let us know - *** if the only avail train was earlier, and u were arriving at 30 mins before ur train, then u wud be too late for the earlier train, and thats not fair.
let me know if u find anythin out.....

My train was changed, from 7.27 to 7.05. I phoned them up and booked the 9.00 one instead. I only had to pay an extra £4. We go next Sunday.

When did they let you know your time had been changed? We haven't heard yet but we do have 3 weeks before we go.

dana...
found this on their site...

"Timetable may be subject to change. Should the departure time that you have just selected be affected, you will be contacted before your date of travel."

so i guess, if ours has been affected, they should let us know!!!! maybe, if uve heard nothing with a week to go - then check?!?!?!

i dont want to change our time, as we chose it for ease, so later means less disney time, and early means grumpy kids lol

Yeah I read that on the site too, I guess if I haven't heard anything a week before we go I'll give them a ring. I guess we will have been moved to the 6:05 instead which is OK by us.

I was told on 1st October that my train was changed, so they gave me 11 days notice.

They are cutting the number of trains to cope with the problem, I would just phone & get a new time from them. They are moving people about.

Not sure if it was still in effect but from about 8/9pm the tunnel was only used to move freight not passengers

We drove in september and have to say we were most impressed with the speed of check in etc, train was for 11.20 so we got there early to make sure, ended up getting the 10.10 train instead.

If there is a problem with the allocated time you will be notified before hand.

Hope this helps.

Was this after the fire? We have had great service from the tunnel in the past, often getting an earlier crossing. It is just now they have a reduced service things might be different.

Tennisfan, crossings are still available after 8/9pm now as they are now operating a night service as from this weekend.

If I haven't heard 10 days before we travel I will phone them. I guess we have been moved to the 6:05am though.

I wasn't sure when they were going to revert back, as I know last week & post fire weeks they only had freight using the tunnel at night. My uncle who works for eurotunnel helped another member of the family who was travelling & he said last week the last passneger train was going at just after 9pm. Now they have removed the damaged train they can hopefully get to work on repairing the damage.

Yeah the fire happened a week before we were booked to go so panic stations that week involving me phoning up each day just to double check.

So everything has calmed down with the tunnel and the reduced service is running well, found that the amount of cars crossing was significantly lower than normal due to people not wanting to risk having to wait for a train so taking the ferry instead.

we have booked our dec trip today! :woohoo: am so excited!!!! we are on the eurotunnel from folkstone on a sunday at 08:55 and from calais on a thur 20:37

there were very few times left. wasn't sure if this was because of day trip to calais with it being close to xmas or not.
