Anyone down near Patrick Air Force Base?

Just wandering if anyone was living down near the Patrick AFB area. Hubby has already moved down and started working. The girls and I will finish out the school year here and then move down at the beginning of summer. I've looked at homes online and have even spoke to a realtor. We were looking at Melbourne, Rockledge, etc. for a home. Are there any areas to avoid? Is any places better than others. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, jenn

You should be able to find a house for dirt cheap if you are looking to buy, with all of the space center lay offs there the housing market is flooded.

Yes, we are looking to buy. Just want to get a better sense of the towns around the base. We are very excited!!

My brother lives in Merritt Island which isn't too far from Patrick and that is a very nice town. We had looked for condos down there and found that we needed to stay away from Cocoa (not to be confused with Cocoa Beach which is very nice but also very crowded with tourists). Good luck to you and hope you find something. Where is your husband living maybe since he's already there he can scope out areas and talk to others who live there to see where the best towns are. Maybe try realtor.com and do a search for surrounding areas.
