I just called Disney Dining to make a 'reservation' for Blue Bayou on DB's birthday, Jan. 29th, and she asked if I was celebrating anything (a new question for 2009) and I said yes, that it was his birthday. She then asked for his name, so I told her.

Has anyone been to a table service restaurant so far this year for their birthday, where the restaurant knew ahead of time? Do they do anything special?

Blue Bayou usually gives you free 'birthday' chocolate mousse if you tell them, but since she asked me ahead of time, they'll already know. I'm just wondering what that means ;)

Usually, you can mention if you're celebrating something special when you make any reservations with Disney. This is standard so that they can make the "magic" happen (like towel cakes or special birthday desserts). I think whether or not you're asked depends on the CM because I've made p.s.s at BB twice and one time I was asked and one time I wasn't (and neither have been during this year).

They may also decorate your table with confetti prior to seating you. They did that for us in WDW when they knew it was our anniversary.

Awesome! :bitelip: I'll make sure to tell PP when I call them, too. (We're waiting for his flight to be booked tomorrow). Any 'magic' touches would be great!

If anyone else has examples or pictures, feel free ;)

DS got a free bowl of vanilla ice cream at BB on his 4th birthday. They actually had a slip of paper on the table that I peeked at that said something like "free birthday dessert". They tried to charge us for it, but I had seen that AND they had told me when I made the PS that he would get a free dessert, so I mentioned that and they took the charge off.

Good ice cream, too!

They didn't ask me when I made Micah's PS for BB but he did get the free mousse. It wasn't too bad....but we ate the cookie boat more....that was our only meal that day, OMG we were stuffed! LOL

I had lunch at the Blue Bayou yesterday (my 21st bday) and they knew ahead of time, i got the choc mousse!
