DBF and I  are looking for some ways to use some CS credits and were wondering if anyone has any experience with Picnic in the Park at Animal Kingdom?

Would you rate it better than flame tree bbq or suggest any other good CS at AK?
:dance3:

Thanks in advance ;)

We did the picnic in the park last year, but was our first visit to the AK. We loved it. Our sons were 2 and 5 they shared a ham and cheese, my husband had chicken wrap and I had the tuna. It was easy and very fresh. We want to try the flame tree this year but may do the picnic again. We were not on the DDP last year so we thought the price was great as well. I wish they did it in each of the parks.

Thanks for the advice FrostyMom we are probably going to do it :goodvibes

I am also very interested in the Picnic in The Park. From what I understand, it's seasonal? Does anyone know if it'll be going on in late March?

I was just going to mention that it's now seasonal. Unfortunately, with Disney's definition of "seasonal" there's no way to tell exactly what that means or exactly what dates it might be offered.

Ugh, Disney. I love you so much, but I hate your all-purpose label of "seasonal." We all know that it's code for, "Whenever we feel like doing it, we will"

Thanks for everyone's help!

DH & I did the picnic in the park last Sept. and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

The food was good, we both had tuna and there was a lot of it. More than the 2 of us could eat. The bag it comes in is a reuseable grocery bag. That was the only bad thing about it. DH & I travel very light (no bags & some days not even a fanny pack), so after lunch I was lugging this bag around all day. I ended up tossing out the cardboard bottem part so I could fold it up & shove it in a pocket.

I would suggest when you pick up your meal, you not choose to eat at the 2 or 3 closest picnic spots. Take a few minutes to walk a bit further out. We ate in the Oasis and pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. And it was a nice, shady, cool spot to be eating on such a hot day.

The meal comes w/water you may want to grab a cocktail from the Dawa Bar too. :goodvibes Or, if you are like my DH grab something caffinated so you don't get that "no caffine" headache.

We ate their last year.... we had the chicken. It was delicious! Order light though because they give you a TON of food.... there were 7 of us & we ordered for 5 & still had left overs.

I was noticing on the menus of WDWinfo.com that it is not part of the dining plan? Last year it was? Is this a change this year? We were planning on doing it again in Sept with our dining plan.

Argh...WHAT does seasonal mean?!?!?

It looks like the only veggie sandwich I can get at AK is with picnic at the park (I don't eat pizza, which looks like the only other option w/CS at Animal Kingdom). We have QSDP for free in Sept. If we don't do this, we have to pay OOP for Tusker House so I have something to eat. It frustrates me that there are no veggie options at AK! I guess I'll have to make the ADR just in case they aren't offering it in September. :confused3
