I booked the FDP at Brown Derby and was told I could use 2 Free Dining Credits or pay 36.00 flat rate. Does this mean I can not order anything I want off the menu? It sounds like there is some sort of Prix Fixe menu. Can anyone tell me what the menu choices are? THanks. I'm thinking it would be way better to pay $36 than to use up 2 table service credits especially if you are picking from a limited menu.

We went last summer with the Fantasmic package and could order anything on the menu.

Yup. We ate there last week with a Fantasmic Dinner Package and could order anything we wanted off of the menu, appetizer, entreé and dessert included.

It was outstanding! :thumbsup2

Absolutely. We even ordered the Cobb Salad, listed on the menu for two, as one appetizer. My DW loves it, and bleu cheese is one of the few things that I won't eat.

When DH and I went in March of '05 and booked the same package, we were given a "fixed price" menu. Not sure how different this was from the other menu but there were 3-5 choices for appetizer, entree, dessert, etc....

This was the only thing that DH and I regret doing. We ate, rode RnRC and then showed up for Fantasmic and wound up not needing the "special" seats. Not a waste of $$ really, just unnecessary.

Yes, as the OP this is what I don't understand?? Why would they let you eat ANYTHING off the regular menu and set the price at $36.00?? (appetizer, drink, entree & dessert) It sounds like it would have to be a "fixed price" menu, or what would be the incentive to actually LOWER their prices for a hard-to-get package like FDP?
:confused3
Can anyone else confirm this?

We were just there last Monday, and I can assure you that you can order anything off the menu for an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The cost is actually $36.99 for adults and $10.99 for kids. Naturally, alcoholic drinks cost extra. Yes, it's a very good deal. My guess is they figure that many who normally would go to BD won't order an appetizer, entree, and dessert due to the cost. Thus, the volume they hope to produce pays for the extra food you receive.

Personally, we love the Fantasmic! package since the cost is fair, and we enjoy not fighting the potential crowds waiting for a seat. There are times you can catch the show without much hassle or waiting, but the odds are you will wait longer with the masses than you will with the package. We also tend to sit fairly high up in the stands and make a quick exit as the final fireworks begin bursting in the air. That way, we miss the crowd leaving, as well. :thumbsup2

I have the FDP booked at the Brown Derby too! I'm wondering why anyone would sacrifice 2 TS credits when they could just pay the $36. I know I am just planning on paying OOP.

We've done it twice - last time was July 2005 and you could order any appetizer, entree, and dessert off the regular menu. It is our favorite MGM restaurant and one of our favorites overall. Enjoy! We'll be back on July 19the for the FDP at the Brown Derby.

Since the dining plan costs $38/day/adult you are essentially wasting a day's worth of credits by using them here for the FDP. Always pay out of pocket for this.

I made an adr here for the FDP and we are on the DP. I had no idea that there was a set price w/o the DP.
For a party of 6, does anyone know if you could essentially use credits for 2 (4 TS) and pay oop for 4? I'm not sure if they let you split them up like that.

I'm so excited to eat here! Thanks

Yes, the DDP is VERY flexible and you can pay OOP for some and not others as long as EVERYONE is on the FDP.

I think it's a great package! We have done it many times, and love not having to wait in long lines for seats, and we love eating in the Brown Derby anyway.
