We're going to be heading back to the world next year - my daughter will be 15 months then, my son will be 6.5 years though. We'll be getting free dining but obviously she's free & has to eat off my plate. Any tips on Disney with a child this age? Basically foodwise. My son was a great eater at her age but since she's only 3 months now, I have no idea what she'll be like as an eater then.

We're going with our 15 month old in 14 days! we also went when he was 3 months but would be interested in hearing any sort of tips other people have...

We just got back with our 15 month old son. Now, I have to add that he is just a really good baby in general. He's very happy, he loves the characters, and he loves to eat!

We all had a fabulous time (we also have a 6 and 4 year old.)

We probably wouldn't have gone to Disney it it was JUST the baby, because if that's the case, why not go to somewhere more adult-friendly, since the baby won't care either way.

But if you are worried that the baby will be miserable, or mess up your plans, I think you will be fine.

The characters do such a great job interacting with the little ones, there are so many rides your 15 month old can go on, most resorts have kid-friendly areas in the pools, and best of all, he/she is FREE!!

We also wouldn't go if it were just the baby, but we have our 6 year old.

Did you take food with you for your 15 month old or did he just eat Disney food?

We did mostly buffets, so there were plenty of options for him (Crystal Palace, Cape May Cafe, Hollywood and Vine, Akershus, 1900 Park Fare) We also ordered from Garden Grocer, things like cereal bars, Cheerios, juice, milk.

We took dd last year and she was 16 months old. She ate off our plates well. However we planned it out. We did character buffets etc. We have a then 4 year old too. With the buffets we were able to pick stuff for her and things were good. She's not a picky eater which helps. The only thing I did which Im glad I did was I brougt with us her favorite oatmeal for breakfast so she was a happy girl with a bit of home each day.

Disney is very accomodating - I found hundreds of things for my son to eat the last time I was there (then 18 months). He loved chewing on the mickey mouse waffles, they had apple sauce at most of the buffets and you can always ask if you need something special.
You can always bring a comfort food or two from home to fall back on in case there is a fussy day, but I found my son ate quite a bit.
And if you are worried about allergies, Disney is full of peanut free or gluten free products. My husband has a seafood allergy so when we submitted our special diets e-mail prior to our trip we not only detailed his allergy but that the kids may have inherited the same allergy, so the chefs at all our ADR's had options for everyone.
Hope this helps:goodvibes

We have taken the kids at all ages. we have done it at 2 mths and 18 mths. Both times out little one was great (easier the first time he slept!!)

There is lots to eat, pasta as quick service counters, meat potatoes. All of the good stuff. My kids were great they would order grapes as a dessert and I would share mine with them, so they gave the bag to their brother.

Which dining plan do you have? That may help people point you in the best places to go for the kids!!

I took my son at 14 months in February.

It was fabulous. Eating wise we had booked a buffet for everyday, so he was able to eat off the buffet free of charge.

We rented a stroller from Magic Strollers (owned by owners locker). It was perfect for him, he loves strollers so he sat and took everything in. The expression on his face watching Main street electrical parade was priceless.

I brought my ergo to hold him while we stood in line, again he loves it so he was happy to sit in it while we waited.

On the plane we bought him a seat and bought a CARES fly safe belt so we didn't have to carry a car seat with us.

We rented a car and car seat from budget.

We even took him on a disney cruise after this. He had just started walking just before we left so to see him walking in the halls with the boat swaying was so funny.

He had a great time, and it was a great vacation for us all. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

We've been to WDW the last 2 years with my son with the free dining, so I know all about the restaurants & we've done a lot of buffets. We always stay at a mod so it's the not the quick serve plan. I'm going to be booking tomorrow.

Glad to know all about the positive experiences. We took this year off from going to WDW because I didn't want to go with a newborn & we were going to wait a few years before we went back, but next year is my DH & my 10 year anniversary so we decided to head back to celebrate our milestone.

We've taken 9 month olds, a one year old, a 15 month old, all the way up to 64 years old - and we've never had a problem for food options..

Although the 64 year old gets a little cranky if the food isn't hot :teeth:

No seriously, the babies are the easiest to feed! LOL!
Buffets are easy.
Plated dinners are too.
And we always took favourites from home, ie Cheerios and cereal bars, for those moments when we all needed a snack... sad to say, we've all noshed out of the baby's snack bags.

Hot water for warming bottles is always just an ask away, and warming baby food is never a problem either.

HTH! And have a wonderful trip!!

:)

Haha, we're taking a 68 & a 69 year old as well, my parents LOL. They managed better than all of us last year, although my father gets cranky with the heat as well!!

we took our son at 3 weeks old, no problem at all, he slept the whole time

there the amazing baby care centres, where you can breast feed in private ( if that is your sort of thing) there are play spots in them, change rooms, buy more diapers, they are great.

Thanks for everyone's response, we are officially booked for September 2012! Now the countdown begins & the saving!
