Has anyone done concierge at AKL?
I've been looking at concierge levels at different hotels and I've seen GF has a breakfast in the morning and wonderful treats through out the day and evening, but looking at AKL it doesn't really tell you what your getting, does anyone know?
Can you all tell me anything about concierge at any hotel and what it's like and what the treats are like?
I've thought about doing this as a treat with a few girlfriends in a few years from now, so I've got time to save and think about whether it's worth it or not.
Either way I'm still looking at doing a deluxe hotel, so I'm trying to weigh my options and see what things are worth doing and what aren't. Thank you for any info. you can give me.

We have done AKL concierge several times. I know all the Deluxe concierge levels are supposed to be fairly equal, but I really felt that AKL wasn't as "done up" as the Poly concierge. For some reason it felt like the Poly put more effort into the food choices, atmosphere and the actual desk help(ie. check in, ticket request, etc). Just my opinion, we enjoyed both but preferred the Poly.:)

We always stay CL at the Poly. They really do a wonderful job. They have the morning, mid-day and evening foods....also soda, water, juice all the time. In the evenings they also have some alcholic beverages. The staff in this area is fantastic....they have gone above and beyond for us many times. All you have to do is ask and they do or try too. Nothing is guarenteed, but they always seem to make our stays great. They will do your ressie's for you, you can get things delivered directly to your room. We have also done CL at GF and while it was nice, I still don't think it is as good as the Poly's. Good luck with whatever you decide! :)

We stayed at both the Lodge and Royal Palm at the GF. Haven't stayed there since we bought the DVC a few years back. However our stay at the Royal Palm was fantastic. The food selection and service they gave us was excellent.

We have booked club level at AK for October. Cannot wait to do the morning safari on my birthday!

I have read that there are great snacks and treats for morning and noon but at dinner they bring in appies from Boma...YUM!

AKL was the best CL we have tried so far. The food and staff were wonderful and the sunrise safari made our trip. They had standard continental breakfast with yummy oatmeals and a latte machine. Different snacks throughout the day (varied from day to day) and at dinner time it was alot of foods from Boma and Jiko, cheese platter, veggie and dip, wines and beer. Then some desserts from Boma, zebra domes and tarts. It was really fantastic and the staff were very good and friendly. Here is some info:

We have done both the Poly and Boardwalk Inn, and they were both awesome.

We have done Poly, AKL, CR and BWI. They were all lovely vacations. They all got every ressie that we asked for. Including Illuminations cruises, sleigh rides, CRT. And most at the last minute not 180 days out. CR got CRT for us 9 days out. The food choices have always been plentiful for us everywhere we have stayed. But I did seem to prefer the Poly's offerings more. I think I just like the bread!!!! But always I have felt like they all were great in the service area.

We have done GF Royal Palm, YC and BC. GF was much nicer than the other 2 as far as food offerings and the club area. YC and BC probably have identical food and both have smaller lounge areas. The concierge staff was the friendliest at YC (greeted by name everytime we went by and went out of their way to answer all questions), then BC and least friendly would be GF.

We have done BWI and the BC. If I had a choice, the BWI is the place for us. So much so, that we are heading there on May 19th.:cool1: The CM's are the best. They go way beyond the call of duty to make your trip very magical.:worship: The lounge at the BWI is slightly bigger than the Beach Club. Also @ the BWI you can watch Illuminations right from their balcony. This is great especially in bad weather. The food choices at the BWI are pretty darn good as well. The hot appetizers come from either ESPN, Spoodles, or the Flying Fish. The desserts come from the Boardwalk Bakery.

We've done AKL concierge a few years ago for Mother's Day, and we loved it. We did the Sunrise Safari; it was wonderful! The one pet peeve we had (and I think this goes for all concierge, not just AKL) is the stampede to the food the second the CMs put it out. You'd think people had never seen free snacks before...

My family and I have done Club Level at the Contemporary and Polynesian. Both were very good, however since they are different in terms of atmosphere and food offerings it's hard to compare them together.

It really depends on how you determine worth. Monetarily it will not be an even exchange. You are mainly paying for service. In most cases it also requires a room card to access the club building or floor. The lounges do differ in foods that derive from the resorts restaurants. Some lounges are quiet while others are loud. Some clubs are rather small, others are larger (PR), while some were just an after thought (WL). A common trend surfacing is streamlining operations which has impact the theme experience, but if you have never stayed before you will never notice what has changed. Addionally, some clubs are better at keeping a professional food line presentation during the designated times than others too.

We found the former AKL Club to be very nice and did not take on a mess hall feel as some of them do. At the time they actually served wines and beers from the area of the world that aligns with the theme...but this is one of the areas their streamlining and loosing the special touch.

Absolutely LOVED the AKL concierge. The food was wonderful, and the concierge staff inspired me to write a letter to Disney praising them. I DO NOT do that willy-nilly.

And the advantage of the Sunrise safari puts it at the top of our list for concierge.

Is the sunrise safari part of staying CL or is it extra? Thank you all for your information, it's always helpful to hear what others experiences are.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the AKL concierge.... it made our trip extra special and spoiled us so I don't ever want to stay non-concierge ever again!! You will be amazed and so glad you booked it :lovestruc

No the sunrise safari is extra but call & book it through concierge. Going down May 12th & staying club level & doing the morning safari:cool1:

I wouldn't call CL value for money at all, but for me, I like staying on a 'secure' floor and being able to pop into the lounge to pick up a soda or a snack. I've never looked at the snacks as 'meal replacements' but after my last stay at the GF RPC I can see some people did (5/6 plates each, piled high with food).

I loved the GF RPC for food selection and elegance, but for friendliness I loved the YC and BWI (BWI lounge is nicer than the YC).

Every time I see this it reminds me of that nasty uncle in the movie "Home Alone"! Gross!
