Hi, I have booked 7 nights at POFQ followed by 7 nights at the yacht club.

Anyone else done a split stay and did it work well for you?

Yes we did 10 nights AKL then 10 nights Poly. It was easy. We called AKL bell service in the am we were transferring. They tagged our luggage. We drove over to the Poly and checked in. Our room was ready in about an hour and our luggage was there within a few hours. Very easy. We stayed club level on both ressies but the only thing that helped with was checking in was a snap. We loved it. It is like having 2 vacations.

Yes, we did Yacht Club and AKL. It was a very easy transition (once we got our stuff gathered & packed)!

We did a split stay in Dec.....3 nights at the POR and then 5 nights at the Poly. We had never done a split stay before and probably would never do another one. I didn't feel settled in my room and didn't like packing up after 3 days and moving.

For some people, the split stays work....our family isn't one of them! :thumbsup2

We tried the split stay (5/5) last trip and NEVER AGAIN!!

It's not that moving your luggage is difficult (Disney does that for you). It's unpacking when you get there and then having to spend the time packing up a few days later with even more stuff and unpacking again and then packing up a few days later to head home. I also hated the check-in line the second time around; it was long and slow.

Not fun. Time consuming. Never felt settled. We're a large family for WDW so it is a lot of time and since the kiddos are littler, it all falls on me and does require full unpacking.

We did WL/BC 2006 and are doing another split stay CR/Poly in July. Like a few others, our resort change went very smoothly. We checked in and headed to Stormalong Bay. When we got to our room after we swan and ate lunch, our luggage was waiting for us. :goodvibes

Definitely. We stayed 3 nights at the AKV followed by 7 nights at the BCV. just contact Bell Services to have your luggage transferred. Easy as pie.

We are doing our second split stay this summer - 7 nights at Pop and then 7 nights at the BWI. The last time we did 4 nights at CR and 6 nights at WL. I think that the length of time you are staying may make a difference. After 7 nights I will hopefully be ready to change so packing up may not be so bad. I did not like it after 4 nights - I was not ready and never felt settled. You should be okay if you are doing a week in each place.

We are doing a split stay this time. Our first night (we haven't picked the resort yet) and the next 7 nights will be at the Beach Club Villas.

We are thinking of staying at Pop or ASMo.

We arent due to check into the BCV until 6/14 but we got a much better deal on our flight on 6/13. Can't really afford another night at BCV. Any suggestions on hotel?

Do POP for a night. Since it's only 1 night you won't be there long enough to "see" a whole resort, so why pay for everything else ? Sounds like all you need is a place to drop your bags and sleep, so save your money for the rest of the trip.
POP has a good basic food court, decent pool (not that you'll have time to swim), arcade, and outside bar. Last year we did a split stay with 2 nights POP, 5 nights BCV, and this year we're doing 5 nights SSR then 2 nights POP - POP is perfect when you just need a room and basic amentities.

We split stay in November... 5 nights POR and 4 at CSR. Loved it! So fun to get a whole new resort! We had a car so we just moved our own luggage. Esp. with 7 nights in each place it will be awesome!

We did a split stay a few years ago between AKL and the Swan. We had our own car so we packed everything in and moved ourselves. The thing that made it so easy though was the fact that I packed all the clothes we were wearing while at AKL in one suitcase and left the clothes for our Swan stay in the other suitcase in the car. When we arrived at the Swan we left our AKL suitcase full of dirty clothes in the car and started fresh at our new hotel. The only thing that was used at both places was the bag full of toiletries and park "junk." If you do this just make sure that there's nothing wet in the first suitcase or it will be really funky by the time you get home!

We did a split stay, WL and CSR. We were not able to spend a week at each place like you are doing. I think that you will enjoy having two places to explore. Have fun.

Big fan here for split stays! The longest trip we've ever taken was a 9 night trip which consisted of 5 nights at AKL and 4 nights at Poly. We usually take 8 nights or maybe 7 nights and will still do a split stay with either. Granted you do have to get your stuff together to move, but my family isn't one to fully unpack all of our stuff. We usually just grab what we need out of our suitcase each morning and that works for us. So packing up the dirty clothes is really all we have to do when it's moving day.

We've also done it both ways... since we've had our own car and then we've also had Disney move it. Either way it worked well. Having Disney move your stuff over was really a breeze too. When we opted to move our own stuff it was due to us having a smaller child (6 months at the time) so we wanted to have our pack n play on hand etc. Now that the kids are older we just go to the park and return to our new resort.

It really is so easy and we love it since it really breaks up the trip and makes it feel like 2 trips in one. Can't beat that! Plus it has given us an opportunity to try a couple different resorts that we've been wanting to try at the same time over the last couple of years.

Good luck!

I like the split stays too, if you plan it right there is no hardship at all. I have 2 cases, one for the first stay one for the second, I don't even open the second case until we are at resort #2.
