We are doing 3 day land/4 day sea beginning om 11/27.
Would love to talk to others to share strategies about the 3 day Land part. Dh and I will have Ds (11) and Dd (12). We are staying at Beach Club.
Anyone else?

NC Linda:

Well I am suppose to be there those days! My family is scheduled, by yours dearly, to be on the WONDER leaving 11/30, and the land part on 11/27. (I did this especially so that I could be at the Beach Club (I fell in Love with this hotel, the music piped outside, the lounge chairs on the "beach" overlooking the boardwalk at night as the friendship boats move around, and of course the "swim park" - and JUST had to stay here at least ONCE in my lifetime).

I have a couple of kids your ages too. ds (10), ds (12) (who thinks he is 15 - too old for kid club, but he will get over it I am sure), and dd (5).

I have been planning this trip in MY MIND ever since there was only the Big Red Boat, no Disney ships yet. Then the ships came out and I about flipped. I just had to be on one of those.

My dh and myself have been trying to sell our "rental" house, but had to fix it up first. This took us much longer than anticipated. He had promised me a trip to WHEREVER I wanted, when the house sold. I began to panic as time was running out, I promised him I would stop bugging him about trips and just focus on the house. Well any Disney fanatic KNOWS that is not possible, so I only thought about it at work and in my dreams at night. I also convinced the rest of my family to join us in this WDW adventure, as my brother (and family) had won several free hotel nights, and my parents were going to be near there in their motorhome on an extended 3 month tour of US. (Well Lousiana was sort of close, from the Northwest anyway), and it is going to be my 40th Birthday, so I also convinced my sister (and dh, his b-day too) to join us for a few short days too.

Ok - now I have gone out on the limb too far. I had no choice but to book the vacation. (As the true park commando that I am, I just HAD to get all the dining reservations, etc done far enough in advance). I knew in the back of my mind that I would have to cancel ALL of this if the house did not sell, as we would not have the dollars to spend on this extravegance (which it is for us).

Well, the house did sell, and actually is closing earlier than expected. I am trilled about this, but when I realized what I had done, I hadn't for a minute thought that my DH would even consider backing out of our DEAL (remember, sell house, ANYWHERE I wanted - no complaining) Seems he actually wanted a say in this. I figured, it was my birthday, I do tons for him, have given up alot in my life so he can have his own business, have lived in construction sites most of my married life (almost 18 years), so figured he would go without question.

He now tells me that he doesn't want to go to WDW again. (already been there, done that). Those are NOT words a Disney fanatic wants to hear from their spouse. I know that I will have to go many times by myself with friends, etc, and have to get my fix, but I really wanted a Family vacation (reunion of sorts). He tells me NO WAY will he go on the ship. (Can't stand the idea of being trapped). I am freaking out! What do you mean, you don't want to be in the sunny Bahama's in the middle of the winter? (Did I mention that I LOVE Christmas decorations, and am a fanatic about it too, so this just adds an extra element to my desire to go NOW!)

As it is, I will lose some $ if he backs out. I only have till end of month to make FINAL decision. I will be SICK if we have to change plans. I can't even think of it right now. (As any planner knows, when you feel you have the PERFECT plan in place, it is soooooo hard to let go of.)

All right, this is more than you wanted to know. Well our plans are now that my ENTIRE family be together at Thanksgiving, We have first thing ps for (dd - 5) Birthday celebration (she turns 6 that week), at the Norway Princess breakfast, then spend the am at Epcot. We are eating at Gulliver's Grill for dinner, and then we will go to Disney Quest that night. Not sure how crowded it will be.

The next day is kind of a free day, with NFL experience and World of Sports, with Beach club hotel swim, some Epcot (to see Santa's), and maybe Arabian Nights dinner show with my Brother (and family). The rest of the family has to leave today.

Saturday, we will go to Typhoon Lagoon, (I know terrible day to do water parks, but only way to do this). We have ps. for Germany dinner that night and the Candle light Processional.

Of course the ship the next morning.

Thanks for putting up with my venting.

Hi Celebrate Life,
Don't know if this will help your hubby but my husband is also in construction - he is a general contractor. We also deal with rental houses and spec houses selling. We would all love to have others on the ship with same interests that we could get to know.
Sure hope he changes his mind!!!!

We're doing the same package the following week (starting 12/4), and will be at PO Riverside. This will be our third land/sea vacation in 2 1/2 years, but the first with kids along.

I'm not a compulsive planner, and I don't get any PS's for dinner (I don't know what I want for dinner tonight--I just can't plan that far ahead!) but have never had any trouble getting something to eat!

DH and I will have AP's for the first time, but the rest of our party won't. Half of us are arriving on Tuesday for a few extra days, but there will be no parks involved. The remainder of the group won't arrive until Thursday mid-day. Our plan is...

Thursday AM -- MK since my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter will be going nuts by then.

Thursday PM- Disney MGM studios with the whole gang. They won't see everything, but we'll get the highlights in! Then DTD for those who can still manage to walk.

Friday AM - AK
Friday PM - Epcot--we have an Illuminations Cruise booked for the gang that night.

Saturday AM -- Individual choice (three families going, this gives everyone some free time)

Saturday PM - MK for Spectro and night-time fun

Sunday AM -- Breakfast at Boatwright's (a family tradition), a last tour around the resort for those not returning after the cruise, and then off to four days on Wonder.

After our cruise, we return to PO Riverside for three nights, and then move on to Pop Century for three more nights.

I can't wait!

Beth

Hi Celebrate Life!

I've been following your story and have replied to you before. But I was curious as to where you were with trying to talk hubby into going.
This is our fourth cruise. I was a little afraid of dh not liking cruises cuz he has to be doing something all the time! But we have fallen in love with them and can't wait til next month. This will be our kids first cruise. I can't wait for them.

DH has his own business (cabinet shop) and we're counting the days ( well I am ) :Pinkbounc , but we're all excited in going.

From what I remember, you ALL need a vacation!! And of course your kids will have a ball!! I really hope that you can make it. Please keep me updated.

I'll be looking for ya. :wave2:

We'll see the rest of you all there as well.

Laura~
