We going to stay at the Holiday Inn Downtown Disney for four nights this November. My DH has points so the stay will be free. From there we will be staying in a home in Formasa Gardens for a week.

Just wondering if anyone has stayed there before. I am most curious to learn about the bus transportation, if we can walk to the grocery in the Crossroads plaza and the best dining options nearby.

Thanks!!!

We have stayed there to add a few days to the begining of a trip. You can walk to DTD or the crossroads from there, we did both and I think DTD is closer. We walked to Chevys at the crossroads 1 night and Sir Earl of sandwitch another. Never used the buses, so I can't comment on them.

We stayed on points a few nights and I also got 2 more rooms for others in our group for 1 night and even though we had 4 cars they did not charge me a parking / resort fee.

I prefer crown plazas when I stay at that chain but will stay at that HI whenever I stay in Orlando from now on due to it's convenient location. Search this forum with my name and DTD for more info on this hotel.

My only complaint about this hotel is the kitchen closes too early.

Here's some great information from Trip Advisor about this property:

Since the remodel this property seems to be a Trip Advisor favorite, really highly rated. The shuttle from what I've read, run every half hour -- really convienent. We haven't stayed here yet, but are seriously considering this property for an upcoming four night stay. That's why I'm so up to date on Trip Advisor reviews.

Thank you Ed!!! :goodvibes Sounds like it will be a good place for a couple days. We have little ones, so we probably wouldn't use the dining late at night anyways ;)

Surprised you didn't get charged the parking fee, seems to one of the few complaints on tripadvisor.com, we are going to get a shuttle from the airport and use the hotel buses to the parks, so I am a little concerned about how reliable that is... but hoping it works out versus the alternative of car rental, hotel parking fee, and disney parking fee.

And you got a DTD view! That is awesome, I am going to request that too, wasn't sure if we could get that with the points.

Thanks Kathy! I was reading up on the trip advisor reviews too, they look great and were definitely what put the hotel in the running, oh and it being free too! :rotfl:

If you stay there, will you be using the buses? Will you report back and let me know how it was? Thanks!

I only have pics from my phone, but here is a DTD view from the 12th (I think floor) and a shot of the pool.

You can tell it's DTD, but you're not missing anything if you don't get it.

We stayed here last year just after they had re-opened from the remodel. The hotel was very clean and the people who worked here were great - very helpful, polite, courteous, etc. The walk to DTD is quick, easy and convenient. The room was just a room, but it was very clean. We stayed there for a week, and it was cleaned well everyday. (Can you tell that a clean room is important to me?) We would definitely stay here again. ;)
