DH :earsboy: wants to get our DS :earboy2: started on Disney ASAP. So we are going this December right after his first birthday. I would love ideas from other's that have traveled with a small child. He may still be nursing, but I'm sure he will be on most table foods by then. I can't wait to give him a Mickey Treat :mickeybar !

Anything you are especially glad you packed in your diaper bag?

Anything you could have lived without?

What caught your youngster’s eye the most?

Any fun rides?

I'm anxious to hear your replies!!!!

Took my DD princess: when she was 6 months!! It was so easy BECAUSE she was nursing. We also took her when she was almost 1 1/2!! That was the "priceless" moments. She rode on her Daddy's shoulders and beat him on the head the entire time yelling "LOOK!!!!"

I took my DS at 15 months (ostensibly for his first haircut - see below!), and it was fine. Take a good stroller! By that point, he wasn't BF'ing any more, so I just took a supply of Take n Toss sippy cups so I could be sure that I always had a clean cup for him to drink from.

It was a good age to take him - he was too young to be afraid on any rides, which I'm sure won't be the case when we go back this year!

Just relax. Take the tike to everything of your interest and it will soon be one of theirs. You will be viewing WDW through the eyes of your child. And there is nothing sweeter than that. :goodvibes

:goodvibes Oh what a cute first haircut idea and cute picture too!!!! Tyler's already had his first hair cut, but maybe he could get his 4th or 5 there.

We took our 18 month DS. He was great. I good stroller is a must, one that reclines. He had just learned to walk and we have cute pictures of him wobbling around WDW. He did quite well, he was even teething. He loved the Lion King show, he would laugh and clap his hands. He wasn't scared of any ride, we took him and his sister back a couple years later and he now is scared of some things. :) Go for it take him. I always say if you have the money take him. Alot of people told me "why are you taking him when he won't remember anything". I said that we can always go back when he will remember. :)

We just returned from DL/DCA with our 16 mo old daughter. We took her because she is a ride freak (we live at the beach and she loves riding the rides on the boardwalk), and we love Disney. She loved the parades in addition to the rides, and she even made it through 2/3 through a movie, which was surprising in that she doesn't care to watch TV. I was ready and made a hasty exit when she got cranky.

She also (apparently) enjoyed having me pin trade, and we now play this at home for fun a couple times a week. At 17 mo., I handle all the pins, but she points out the trades and we chat and laugh about the pins. So, don't believe folks who say the little ones don't remember anything about the trip. I think I have evidence that they do, at least for awhile!

I was just about to post the same link as all4fun! It has some great info. I have it bookmarked.

We are taking our DS for his 1st birthday in October. I am looking more forward to this trip than I ever have!!!!!!!!

Hey Patrice...Our DD turns one on Oct 30 and we are also taking her for her first birthday!!

It was the best! She learned to walk there!

We bought some baby food at a grocery store and took that with us into the park. She didn't mind eating it cold because it was warm outside. She was drinking out of a sippy cup so I just took disposable cups and was able to get whole milk at most places. I took about 4-6 diapers and disposable pads and at least one change of clothes per day. We took a break most afternoons to head back to the hotel for nap time, but if she fell asleep while there I would just go shopping or find a relatively quite, shady spot and stay with her while she slept.

On her birthday we got the Birthday Pin and put it on her stroller because she wouldn't leave it on her. WE did breakfast at CRT and they sang her happy birthday, brought us a cake that we shared with others and she got a paper with all the princesses signatures. WE got her hair cut in Disney. And last but not least we had supper at Crystal Palace because she know the Pooh characters. They brought her a cupcake and we did a birthday parade around the restaurant. WE have some great pics, and great memories, even if she doesn't remember. She loved the fuzzy characters the most and some of them even played with her.

Just make sure you take all the daily necessities, try to stick to a routine if your baby already has one, and enjoy the moment. It only happens once!

One of our other tips if you can afford it. Is to get a portable DVD player. This was the best! It helped entertain her on the plane, waiting for food in restaurants, and waiting for parades.

That is too cute mcgrawfan!!!!! We are so excited to go! I already have my chart printed out to call in for all my ADR's!!!!!!
