Booked for February 26th 2022 and super excited!

I’m praying they amend the professional photos rule with masks as this is my sons first time on a crusie.

Was there a pirate night as well?

was there a formal night?

I had to reserve times for Darth Vader and C-3PO is this still valid with Covid and holy smokes people gobbled the reservations up!

We did the one last week. It was fun but was definitely lesser than the one we did in 2019 (decor-wise and roaming character-wise).

They did have backdrops and magic shots outside so you could get professional photos without masks. However, the ticketed character meet photos did require masks. They perform the deck show and fireworks twice at 7:30 and 10:30. On our sailing, the Star Wars fireworks were done the day we visited Cozumel.

There was a very lite pirate night; characters were out in pirate costumes and there were some pirate-themed activities in the D Lounge but that was about it. No bandanas, no pirate walkthrough in the MDR, no pirate menu and no pirate deck show/fireworks. Some passengers dressed in pirate gear but not as many as when there is a full pirate night.

We did have formal and semi-formal nights. Formal night was supposed to be night 2 but mid-afternoon on day 2, we got a notification in the app that formal night was moving to night 3 (no idea why). Semi-formal night was on night 6.

If you're going to be disappointed with photos with masks involved, I'd reschedule. I really can't see a situation where masks go away anytime soon, June at the absolute earliest when the typical summer lulls of COVID have started and that's only if Omicron burns through a large percentage of the population and is left with no one to infect.

they were doing maskless photos up until a month ago

How does one reserve times for meet/greet with characters? Is that something you do onboard? I don't see anything in the App to do it pre cruise.

You can reserve meetings with a few of the characters through the website where you normally book other onboard activities. The rest aren't bookable at all.

you might want to get your child some masks with themes.

The Star Wars characters are bookable as Onboard Fun activities in the app or on the website at 30 days out, same day as online check-in opens up.

I'd say this cruise is not for hardcore SW nerds. If you're one of those, lower your expectations. This is not the cruise version of SW Celebration.

It's good for kids and the "light" Star Wars fans, and it's fun for what it is, but if you're the kind of person who likes to discuss things like the differences between IG-11 and IG-88, or whether or not Doctor Aphra's grey morality makes her an anti-hero or a true villain, this is not the cruise you're looking for.

I'll let you guess which category I fall into. 🤓

This was my question. I like Star Wars, but far from a nerd.

If only Disney owned Harry Potter!

It is only one day out of seven, and it’s really not “in your face.” It’s also nothing too esoteric. You’ll see all the characters you expect to see. Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, Stormtroopers, Artoo & Threepio, maybe some Jawas. We had a Gamorrean guard patrolling the atrium, and Seventh Sister from “Rebels” in the Jedi training show in the WD Theater.

I haven’t been on a SWDAS since 2016, so I imagine nowadays, their cross-promotion with Disney+ will include appearances by The Mandalorian, Boba Fett in his new costume, and maybe Fennec Shand.

Someone posted earlier that they showed the first two episodes of that new Boba Fett Disney+ series in the theater. But otherwise, the characters seem to be pretty traditional. The ticketing meets are Chewbacca, R2D2, C3PO, and Darth Vader. I bet they'll have Rey somewhere, though.

They might still have Rey, but I also think she might be reaching the end of her shelf life. It’s not like you’re seeing any new Rey-related stuff being released, or even announced. Which is a shame, because I really liked the character and Daisy Ridley’s performance.

The Disney+ shows are the new hot dot for Star Wars.

Yeah, but Rey reaches a certain demographic, I think. There aren't many female characters in Star Wars and most of them are in supporting roles. Besides, Disney still likes their new trilogy. There's Rey and Kylo stuff everywhere.

Yes, I think Rey will be around for a little longer, but once the Ahsoka series comes out, I’ll bet that she will become the new female face of the franchise.
