I can get Sirius free for 6 months with my WalMart+ account. I've had sirius before and it was a pain to cancel but I've read that you can cancel online now. Has anyone had experience with this? I like free Sirius but it's not worth spending an hour on hold to cancel. Thanks.

Could not actually cancel online as every time I entered my log-in they had "technical difficulties". But, I was able to cancel through the chat function and it was relatively quick.

Not helpful, but I can't get them to stop calling me and offering me their services.

I bought a new Lexus in July and every single day, from various numbers, they are calling me becuase my free offer expired wayyy back. I didn't listen to Sirius when it was free so I'm certainly not going to pay for it. But they keep calling and calling - from different numbers. Each time I block a number they call from a different number. It's relentless and borderline harassment.

I cancelled last month over the chat function. I did have to insist 3 times but it was painless.

I would make sure I’m on the Do Not Call National list thing. (They say you don’t have to re-up after 5 years anymore but I did anyway and it made a lot of difference in my spam calls.) And I would call Sirius and ask to be removed from all phone and mailing lists. Might not work but every day? yikes. It’s worth a shot.

Good ideas. I will do both. Because yes, every day = yikes!

If all that doesn’t work, after a month you can get more aggressive and file a report with FTC and your state’s AG. You might even hear back from your state’s AG. It’s illegal to telemarket to the DNC list but they have a month to “update their lists” after you join.

Same thing happened to my DD when she bought her car (Feb.) - seriously was harassment. She finally got angry with them (which is nearly impossible; she is the most even-tempered person I know, almost to a fault) and then they stopped. Ugh. Seems to be their sales tactic (does it ever work!? Someone finally caves and subscribes after being called 10x+?). Ridiculous.

Got a new car recently and never give them my credit card # even when they request it for their "free" trial of both OnStar/Sirius. That is just a gimmick to make it either harder to cancel or they hope you forget and will automatically keep renewing. Mostly I get emails or the occasional letter offering some reduced rate to continue. I just delete them or toss in the trash and don't intend to pay to listen to the radio while in the car.

My guess is most people drop the service after the free trial has ended and their marketing people think if they ask enough times you will agree to renew.

Had something similar happen last year when ADT apparently bought a solar panel company. Started getting phone calls almost daily that sounded like a scam and the person started by saying 'this call is being recorded' while mumbling the name of the company which I didn't recognize. Virtually all calls that start that way involve some sort of scam. They were trying to get you to agree to a 'free' estimate to install solar panels. I finally called ADT using the customer service # on their website and reported what was happening and told them I DO NOT want solar panels and note that on my account and STOP calling me. The calls stopped, no idea if that was because I called them or they simply gave up...............LOL. I always feel like if you are selling a quality product that people actually want, you do NOT have to resort to pushy/obnoxious sales tactics.

From FTC.gov: "Finally, calls are permitted from companies with which you have done or sought to do business. Specifically, a company can call you up to 18 months after you last did business with it."

I’d still turn them in to the ftc and state ag. Every day calling is not business, it’s harassment. Let the powers that be find the fine print 😆

But I think pp will be fine. I’ve done Sirius promos off and on and haven’t had that issue but I am very proactive about getting off mailing and calling lists.

Been two years but no problem. They answered the phone promptly and did ask why I was canceling. Hey, I retired and we downsized from 4 cars to 3. Not much they could pressure me on as my other cars have subscriptions and I no longer had the car I was dropping.
