I know some people hate to see Avatar Land in AKL, but we are actually quite excited about it. DW is a fan of Avatar movie, I like it too. When DVC confirmed the new construction of Avatar Land last year, we decided to add AKL to our DVC profiles before 2017.

Last week Disney released the news that AKL is officially sold out. We were wondering if anyone one is buying AKL because of Avatar Land just like us? Anyway, DW started to ask me if the resale price is going up? I said no, since AKL is a huge resort. But I am actually not so sure about it, so we finally made an offer for 160pt@AKL yesterday, and the offer is accepted today:cool1:. Anyone on the same boat with us;)?

I don't get the connection between AKV and AK, other than you are not too far away by bus.

:) We own at AKV and I think there may be some benefit to having points there when Avatar first opens, but I think it will affect all the resorts. We purchased in 2009, so if it happens and is a great addition we will be glad to have it as our home resort. I think it is going to be difficult to make the case since you cannot see or walk to AK from AKL. If you could look off the balcony and see a giraffe with Pandora lit up at night behind it you would have an exciting theory. I am excited about anything new going on and hope something with Star Wars is next.

We bought AKV in 2007 simply because we fell in love with it. It's a very unique resort and we find it laid back and relaxing more than our other home resort of BWV. Which is our other favorite place!

I think avatar land is a plus and am excited about it, but from our point of view it wouldn't have made the decision for buying at AKV. That's easy to say since we already own, I think what I'm trying to say is that the resort sells itself. Avatar land or no. JMHO

I think that the only way Avatar Land would impact the resale value of AKV is if there is some night time light show or other kind of "spectacular" which would make staying at AKV desirable from the standpoint of getting "home" quickly. With the animals on the savanna, I doubt they would do some sort of pyrotechnic show. If anything, it may be some sort of laser light and music show. Something like that may make it more worthwhile to be at AK past the 3:45 parade.

I think that the sold-out status is the one thing that could potentially bump the resale value of AKV for a short time. This may be particularly advantageous for those selling contract that are less than 100 points.

There is going to be some kind of light show....From my understanding it's going to be on the tree of life..

I watched one of the recent interviews, the imagineers had mentioned that AK was the only park without night time internment, and they wanted to fix this problem.
The went onto explain they had have to work around animals, this may mean shutting off areas of the park at dust? While leaving avatarland open..
They also said something about picking an area that would not disturb the animals on the safari ride.
Their are some drawings floating around at what the night time show is going to be like.. I remember seeing them..

To the OP question..
We are pretty set on buying in at the VGF, however since my Stepdad, sister, bro in law, and DD LOVE avatar.. We will be trying to get a room there for a few nights in 2017..

Also remember their will be three movies coming out 2016,2017,2018.. I think if the movies and the Park are done correctly and have a jaw dropping experience, it will be a major pull..this is what Disney is betting on to lesson the crowds out of MK and DHS..

So yes, I expect AK to be busy for years to come..
With maybe a slight raise in the Resales..

Ps. I still think "beastly land" was a better idea, but that ship has sailed.. :-(
