Hi friends! Did anyone purchase the Grinning Ghost package or the Foolish Mortal package today? They have both SOLD OUT!!! I plan (hope) to purchase the Dearly Departed package tomorrow and was wondering how the "It will be necessary for each Guest to register individually." worked for you. Did everyone in your party get to purchase a ticket before they sold out? Any tips? :tink:

Both packages sold out in less than a few minutes. I got my confirmation at 11:02 but I am on the wait list didn't even have time to register my DH before it was sold out. Rumors are that there were only 100 spots so it went super fast due to the amount of rooms set aside for the event. I expect the other 2 packages to be much easier to register for or at least I hope so!

Quick question...if you got your confirmation..why are you on the wait list?
I am probably going to register tomorrow...how did the registration process work. What info did u have to put in?

It never asked me for my credit card info so by the time I hit submit they had already sold out but the wait list feature was still active at that time which they sent an email confirmation of

You have to log in and then put your name address phone # - then there should be another page to enter your credit card info

I expect the other 2 packages not to sell out as fast but yet still sell out tomorrow

Thanks for the info. I am sure the remaining packages will sell out as well.

DizneyDogs, Did you get on-line exactly at 11:00 a.m. or before? This is really scarey as we have a group of four from different cities and States buying tickets tomorrow. The HM has such a huge following that I expect the same reaction for tomorrows sales as well. Boy, I sure hope we get them. I also find it strange that you did not enter a credit card number, but you did receive a confirmation of your purchase, is that right?:tink:

Good Question..What time should we start to register at like 10:55??

I sure hope DizneyDogs has a chance to get back on here before the 11th hour. I have read on other sites now, that by the time one ticket was purchased, the event was sold out and the second purchase( always for a Hubby) could not be made. And something else others have posted is that a credit card was required at the time of registration. I have not heard of anyone getting more than one ticket yet?!? What will they do? This would be easier if we could purchase tickets as couples. Anyone else out there that got a event package today? What time should we be logging in?:tink:

Apparently Disney is blaming the whole fiasco today on the President!!!

But my reservation has now been confirmed I just have to call them before the end of the week. Here's the email they sent me

The increased amount of internet traffic today, due in part to the Inauguration Events being broadcast over the internet, caused our online reservation system to become overwhelmed during the registration process for the Grinning Ghosts and Foolish Mortals packages. In some cases, it was unable to display the payment collection information at the time of booking, and caused some e-mails to be sent prematurely.

We wanted to clarify that we are indeed holding a ticket under your name for the package listed below. We ask that you please contact us by the end of the week with your payment information.

Should you wish to cancel this ticket because of this system issue, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can accommodate someone on the wait list for the event.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to seeing you at the event!

I logged on about 10 minutes till 11am PST and just kept hitting refresh until the form came up - I didn't even take time to really read what it was saying I just typed as fast as I could.

So anyway I am in but my husband I am not sure about - there was a line on the from to indicate if someone would be staying with you in your room and I put his name there so will have to wait and see what they say when I call in tomorrow morning and I also picked arrival of 9/9 and departure of 9/11 since I thought we would be getting the 2 nights.

Anyone try to get in today? Disney really surprised and disappointed me on this one. Starting 5 minutes before they even went on sale the site never worked. They had a waiting room kind of page up, to try and offload some of the traffic from their servers, but then the waiting page got pounded. I've seen 3 different types of error pages over the past hour. I can't understand why in 2009 a company like Disney would have so many issues with taking reservations and accepting credit cards.

Clearly they severely underestimated the level of interest in this event.

yep tried again today since I needed another ticket so my DH can join me - what a nightmare!!! server crashed so many times and never did get in - did get on the wait list for Hitchhikers package but was trying for the dearly departed - so if anybody has an extra ticket for any of the levels please pm me
(would prefer Grinning Ghost or Dearly Departed but will take anything)

First off I want to say that I do not think Disney under-estimated the level of interest in this event. I have been a Disney Nut for a very long time and it is no secret the following that the Haunted Mansion has. I have been to 5 or 6 special events at Disneyland, and the number of tickets sold are kept low for your enjoyment. And even with that said the Indy 10th Anniversary Event IMO was over sold. It has been guess-timated on other sites that the number of tickets sold for this event was probably around the 1,000 mark. I can't imagine throwing a party for that many people but Disney pulls it off.
Okay, as whodini stated there was a page to keep refreshing as you waited your turn to register. After refreshing 6 times I got in and I have a Dearly Departed ticket!:cool1: I have other friends that were on this morning as well. Out of our party of four two of us have confirmed tickets, one had the same problem as DizneyDogs and hopes since she got all the way into the "Credit Card" page and submitted that before she lost her connection that she is in (we hope), and our fourth friend is on the waiting list. I logged-in this morning about 10 minutes to the hour. The site did not seem to open until 11:00, and I was in at 11:07, my purchase was complete by 11:22. All packages were sold out at about 12:30.:tink:

I was lucky enough to get in this morning, but I was really mad the whole time.

I have been to two other Disney Merchandise events (the Pirate Fiasco of 2000, and the DL TOT opening) and I don't remember having to have a password. So, I go and get a password and I get in and get my reservation. THEN, my sister can't get in and who wants to go alone? So, I was able to get hers for her as well.

I just really hope it is a better event than the ones I'm used to attending.

And what does Disney expect the people who have parties of 5 to do if only 3 of them get a ticket?

I was happy to see that under one log-in, I was able to hit the button at the bottom to buy another ticket quickly. I ONLY saw this because I was on the phone to the gal there at Disneyland while I was getting the tickets.

I was very very lucky yesterday and got a Grim Grinning Ghost package. :cool1:

The experience went fairly smoothly -- which apparently was NOT the norm.

This just occured to me. In here and on other sites everyone's tring to figure out just how many tickets were sold for this event. Okay ready, I thought of this and said "duh!"..999. You know Disney they always keep with the theme of things. (just my guess.):tink:

Hey, you could be right Marla! I'm patiently waiting for my confirmation from Disney! I was one of the ones that actually got in twice today but both times the credit card page came up blank! I hope, hope, hope I have a ticket!!!

Yes, one Foolish Mortal package. I do not have a problem with the idea of going alone. Besides, I will be with at least 998 happy haunts. :)

I just spoke to a very nice rep from Disney Events. Apparently yesterday was a fiasco and they now have 1000's of emails and faxes to sort through. But, they DID see where I got in twice and entered my information before the blank credit card screen came up so I still have a chance at buying 2 tickets!:cool1:

Should anyone with either a Grinning Ghosts, Dearly Departed, or Foolish Mortals package decide that they do not want to go by themselves, I would be willing to purchase your package from you, rather than you cancelling with Disney...Please let me know ASAP! Thanks
