Hi!

Does anyone buy the "big figures" that they sell in the parks? We bought one, the Beauty and the Beast figure, it is absolutely gorgeous, but I didn't realize until it arrived at my house how big it is.

If you have any, how do you display them? I wanted to start buying one every year, but don't know where to put them. I have a plant shelf in my living room that i have my snow globes on, but the big figure is way too wide.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Jess :wave2:

Are these the ones that are like 2 or 3 ft tall? If so I am very tempted everytime we go, but I am too afraid my kids would break it. Maybe someday when the kids are older. I could just start putting them all around my bedroom and locking the door... :rotfl: I LOVE them. They are so gorgeous! I would love to decorate my downstairs familyroom with them someday.

Those are the ones, I think it is around 2 1/2 feet tall. It is really cool, they are some type of plastic, but don't look like it. Right now I have it on my dining room table, but I can't leave it there forever. It is big. I love it though, I just don't know how to display it.

We have Capt Hook. :maleficen
Likr many newer homes we have wall shelves near the ceiling level. Hook is up there. :earsboy:

I so wanted the Donald last time and I fully intend to get it this time!! How do you guys get yours home? Do you have them ship 'em home for ya?

Thumper and Tourist Stitch reside here in our home. I hope to bring home something new to keep them company when we come back from our December trip. Maggie

I bought Donald for my DH's birthday present. I shipped it to my home on my last trip in April.

If you have it shipped home when you buy it, you do not pay tax. If it breaks when they ship it to you they will replace it. I have the Beauty and the Beast on and it came in a HUGE box. The Fed Ex person and I unboxed it in the parking lot to get it into my car. As we opened it I noticed that the rose the Beast is holding was not attached, so I called as soon as I got home. I had to repackage the broken one (the box was not in the best condition so they told me to tape it up as best I could) and Fed Ex picked it up from my house to return it and they sent me a new one. I have it displayed on a small table at the top of my stairs.

Where do you buy these? I haven't been to WDW since last January; are they something new? How much do they cost? Just curious....Kathy :earsgirl:

This is one from disneydirect.com since I Have mine in storage as they are Christmas ones.I have Santa Donald and Santa Mickey.

To see what some of these look like, just go to eBay and search for "big fig" or you can see some of these pieces on DisneyDirect or DisneyDeals. I hope this helps. They are really something to see. Our Tourist Stitch is the size of a toddler. :earboy2: Maggie

We have the "Steamboat Willie"... He is in our family room which is dedicated to Disney. I just love to look at him. We bought him a few years ago... I still get the same joy every time I see him.

:hourglass 6 days to go!

No, they aren't new, they just aren't in every shop. I remember seeing them in AK. The store that had all the African masks and art stuff. They are around $250 I think. At least the ones that I looked at. Anyone know where else they have them? I'm sure some store at DTD has to have them. I was wondering if they box them up good? Traveling home with one of those puppies would be interesting. We drive, but my goodness, they are the size of a 3 yr old! I already have a car full! :crowded:

We had ours shipped home, since we didn't pay tax on it I think our shipping was about 4.00 extra (if you add what would have been tax to the total).

The UPS man struggles with the box. It was huge, I could have fit my 3 kids in it. I paid 200.00 plus shipping. I bought it at Animal Kingdom. I think the ones like Stitch and Mickey, the single character ones are around 150.00.

I love it, but don't know where to put it at the moment. The shelves near the ceiling aren't wide enough to fit it on. I have my Disney snowglobes up there.

I guess I will just have to buy a table to display it on. I plan to get one every summer.

Thanks!

Jess

I've seen them at the stores in the resorts. At least they were at the store in SSR and OKW. Also, they sell them at the WOD store in NYC. The ones at the NYC WOD store run anywhere btwn $125 - $250, depending on how big and elaborate they are. The Mickey ::MickeyMo one I want to get is $150. My DW and I LOVE WDW, but we haven't gotten into decorating the house yet WDW, so I don't know where I would put it. :confused3

I am a collector of the big figures. So far we have Donald, Mickey, Pluto, Jiminy Cricket, Chip & Dale & Tinkerbell. I display them all differently. I have Donald & Mickey on either end of our TV on our entertainment center. I have 3 in the curve of our 1/2 cirlce staircase, and Tink on a table in my bedroom.

They are great to collect. I plan on having children someday, so they will make great additions to a nursery one day :)

I LOVE these!!! I drool over them every time we go!! We always say that we are going to get one but never do. My husband is into the collectible Limited Edition artwork so he usually ends up getting that and I always decide to get a piece of jewelry instead!!! I guess its best that we haven't bought any yet since we would have nowhere to put them!!!! We are building our new home next year so I guess that I will have to start catching up because I want them all!!!!!!!!!!!! :earseek:

The best places to find these are at the Art of Disney stores at Epcot and Downtown Disney...I found some pictures from our June trip...I REALLY want the special 50th Anniversary one in the 2nd pic...
