I'm curious to see if DDE purchases of drinks only in the pub area of the R&C get the 18% gratuity automatically added. Any first hand experience of this in 2008?

Thanks,

Just like someone from PA with a beer question. Let me know the answer ME and DS21 going for the beer walk around EPCOT for the first time in June now that he is 21.
By the way live close to Berwick, PA just down the road.

Hi, neighbor. We did the Drink Around the World with my son and his GF last Oct. for the first time, they turned 21 during our trip. It's fun when your kids become your drinking buddy. In addition, we bought them Segway tours as a gift and they had a ball.

bill,

I know i told you I'd get an answer in another thread a week or so ago, but I was unable to get in to do that. It was packed (and I mean like sardines) everytime we passed. I will say that we did go to a few of the lounges during our stay and the gratuity was added. obviously the same concept is there. I would imagine that it would be the same at the pub. I'm sure it is not considered a "counter service" but a "lounge" Guess it depends on Disneys definition.

:offtopic: I had some interesting & enlightening conversations with several of our servers and one manager. I won't go into detail here (I'm in no way wanting to hijack a thread or turn it into another great debate), but I do plan to post something in the next few days (as time permits) to hopefully clear some of the uncertainty people have based upon our experience with DDE this trip.

Thanks, Cplofdisneynutz, it's probably the case that the R&C is considered a lounge by Disney. We'll just use the DDE card for table service meals and keep it in my wallet at the watering holes.

I was just there on Tuesday, but I got Fish & Chips too and they did add 18%. Sorry that doesn't answer your question about beer only, but now I'm curious too.

This doesn't pertain to the R&C specifically, but dh and I used or DDE at the bar at the CA Grill in the Contemporary on January 12. We ordered two desserts (no drinks, we only drink water). But it was the bar service. When the bill came initially, we noted the total. Dh sent back our DDE and credit card. When they brought our bill back to be signed, there were two copies, both of which only listed a total. No breakdown of what this total included! I said to dh, does this include 18% grat? He said I guess; who knows. The total seemed to indicate that, but why didn' it list it? How deceitful is this! Keep the customers in the dark, so they will pay the tip twice? Or just thoughtless computer set-up, I don't know.

We had to ask the server if the tip was included. She said yes it is; we have to include it now. Well, ok, but how about letting us know that?! Thank goodness we knew ahead of time about the mandatory tip, or we probably wouldn't have known, and paid twice. We were quite dismayed at the lack of disclosure. But the tip was definitely automatically put on there.

DH and I were at the pub a couple of weeks ago and used our DDE card for our Boddingtons. Yes we were charged the 18%. The bartender did warn me however.
