We did this a few years ago and it moved us from a standard view at the AKL to a savannah view and still paid for the AP additional cost.

We just figure out the extra cost of the AP over a Park Hopper (we get the child AP and it works!) and make ourselves have to recoup that cost with whatever upgraded room/resort we get. That way, we get a better room for the same price (or cheaper) and have an AP for the next year.

With the anticipation of the new AP rates tomorrow, just wondering if anyone else does this or has any ideas on the subject.

Depending on the deal, yes. If I can get a good enough rate on the hotel for our 7 night stay, I will do it. We are staying at Pop Century, so I have no idea, since it's sold out for the first week already, if they will even honor the AP rate. If it comes out to an almost even change between the price I have now and the price we expect to be paying for our 6 day PHP within $150, I will make the switch. This would mean that we could possibly take some long weekend (3-5 day) trips throughout next year. This would be much better than waiting for 15 months between vacations just so that we can do WDW right, well, right our minds atleast.

We shall see. Mickey

We did it for that reason a few years ago, but then we were hooked! When you look at the savings on park passes too, it makes two trips justifiable (or at least that's what I keep telling my DH!!!)
