Anyone breed dogs? Have had a litter??

Question for anyone who has had a litter...my Newfoundland is due THIS weekend! I am very excited, but also VERY nervous. But, I'm an RN & have had 6 of my own kids...so I figure I'll do OK.

Any good last minute tips?

Any hints?? Any clues to WHEN labor will begin?? Yes, I have been taking her temp.

I almost thought it would be last night...she was just wandering around everywhere.

I feel so bad for her, she seems sooooo uncomfortable! She'll be having 5 or 6 pups.

No experience here just wanted to wish you good luck. Newfies are the best!! My Skye died 3 yrs ago at age 11. Still miss her. So good luck to you and your dog!!!

I had a German Shepard/Malanois mix that had puppies. Her first litter and she had 14!!! Two of them were born dead which was so sad.

When she went into labor, I was watching a movie on TV and totally involved. I noticed she was gone and went looking for her. She had gone into my walk-in closet, pulled down all my sweaters from the shelves, and made a nest! I about had a heart attack. She hadn't had any of the puppies yet and I managed to get her out of there and into the laundry room where I had set up an area for her with old blankets.

Have a great time with those puppies! They are always so darn cute.

We have a registered chocolate Lab that has had two litters. With her first litter she wanted me right there with her. We had her in the garage, and had made a "nest" in an old wading pool. I sat beside her in a lawn chair. If I got up to come inside she would get restless and bark, so I stayed right there with her. She did fine. And she was "an old pro" with her second litter.
