How is the quality? Does it hold up over time? I need to buy some for an upcoming trip and love the fun choices at the Disney Store, but I don't want to waste the $$ if they won't last for a long while.

I've purchased luggage from disney shopping (dot) com twice before - once through the outlet and once in the regular store. We love it - what we've gotten has been very well made, no problems with the zippers, wheels or handles, which is usually what we destroy on our other luggage.

Good luck!

I purchased a four piece red and black Mickey luggage set from Disney Store online about four years ago for around $80. I don't know if they still carry that particular set but so far it's held up pretty darn well, especially for the price. It's been to Disney about five times and several other places as well. I really didn't think it would last this long but so far so good. There is some minor scuffing and the piping on the edges where it would rub on the luggage carousel is slightly damaged but no worse than my expensive suitcase.

Do you plan on buying like the sets or the kids luggage?

The kids luggage is all I have ever bought and we've had them for almost 2 years. They are used a lot but now the zipper on DD's Princess one is coming unstitched and DS has the Pirates of the Caribbean chest and the plastic in the top that made it rounded shattered to pieces, so it doesn't stand up anmore.

We have a 3 piece royal blue set that we bought maybe 4 or 5 years ago. it has held up well, a couple of scuffs but that is from being tossed around by the airport-usual marks imo. I think I bought it discounted/on sale through the website. It has been on several trips.

I bought my red set 4 yrs ago... I love it. It has been to Disney 6 times and a few road trips as well and they are still in decent shape. No problems with wheels or ripping.

I bought the black set a few years ago, the set with the sewn on Mickey head on each piece. it only lasted a couple of years. My husband took the larger piece on a business trip to Texas and the wheel fell off as soon as he took it off the luggage carousel. He had to go the whole week, and the trip back home missing a wheel. We won't be buying anymore Disney store luggage. After that, I went to my local Ross department store and bought some name brand luggage that is made better. I do miss my Mickey luggage though, I sure did love it!

Love mine!
Bought the 3 piece set on disneystore.com 5 years ago and have no complaints. wheels, handles, zippers still work well.
Bought it in black and red, hubby gets embarrassed pulling red mickey luggageprincess:

We bought the 3 piece set a few years ago(sorry I don't remember exactly maybe 4 or 5 years ago) from Disney store.com and it has held up really well. It's navy blue with just a small Mickey on the front of each piece. We got it on sale and it was under $100 for the set. We use it every year for Disney, we have lent it out for family to use and everything still works perfectly on it (zippers, wheels etc.) and it still looks brand new.

We have the red set with a small mickey on it. We have had it about 5 years. It has been on a few trips per year. Probably 4 or 5 plane trips, and many road trips. I use the large one, and DS8 uses the next size down. He is very ruff with his luggage, and it is still in great shape (knock on wood:rotfl:) The luggage just has a few scuffs. We rarely use the smallest piece the shoulder bag. It still looks brand new.

we had the black with multicolor mickey outline, and two pieces of the navy/white comic print.
all only lasted one r/t on a plane (or less) - broken handles/wheels, broken zippers, stitching opened, etc
we've had a few delsey pieces for many years, that still look, and function like, brand new.

not worth it, imho.

We bought our first set several years ago--the royal blue with the mickey heads. We love it so much I bought two more sets since then--royal blue with "disney" on it. We love how much they can expand!!! The first set has been on several trips and the others only 2 I think, but one of those was across country and back with a cruise in the middle. When our DD is older and needs her own luggage, I will probably buy a 4th set.

Also Disneystore.com (& the outlet section) have frequent sales with a % off. That is the best time to buy luggage with either free or $5 shipping.
