Just wondering how booking with Airmiles went. We are hoping to save enough Airmiles to cover our tickets to MCO next February. We would be getting 2 adult (DH and I) and 1 child ticket (DS 2). Does anyone have experience? How did it go? We would want to fly out on a Monday morning (early) and return mid afternoon the next Thursday (6 nights WDW/4 night DCL). Do you think this would be a problem in that it's not a Monday to Monday flight? Can you specify flight times ie early morning etc. like you can when you buy plane tickets? Does anyone know if DS has to pay if he will be 2 (he's turning 3 during our trip). I definately don't want him on my lap!! LOL and we will be bringing his carseat for the plane ride and transfers once we get to Orlando. Does anyone know if the Eddie Baure Cosco Carseat will fit in the plane seat OK? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!:earsgirl:

They have limited seats available. For our recent trip I called last March and only could get the one seat!

Other than that it was great!

It's pretty much first come first serve... So I would call as soon as you know what your dates are. You might have to be flexible with your dates if you really want a specific flight time. Other than that, everything is really easy. You do have to pay taxes on the flight ... I think it's $200 or less (I can't remember the exact amount). Air Miles also lets you purchase some miles if you don't have enough for a ticket.

The farther ahead you book the better. We booked three tickets from Halifax to Tampa in July for a Feb. trip and had no problem. There were quite a few options. Look at the schedule at air mile.ca to see the time of year that takes the least amount of airmiles...it can change quite a bit depending on the month. We paid $495.00 in taxes and fees for three tickets.

Good Luck!

Unless they have changed the rules (t has been a few years since I redeem by air tickets). You had to have a Saturday stay over. Taxes are extra. There is only a limited nimber of airmile tickets per flight Book as early as possible and be flexible.

As for DS turning 3 -- any child occupying a seat, regardless of age, will require a ticket.
Those are some major Air Miles you will need to have for 4 tickets. It was so much better when 1 Air Mile = 1 mile flown. I have flown on Air Miles in the past and truly wondered about the economy of it all with the hefty taxes I paid, compared to the slight taxes paid for "free" flights booked on Aeroplan miles. The difference is truly unreal.

DutchsMommy,

We've used airmiles for flights twice, most recently on our trip to WDW in December for 2 adults and one child. We booked in June for early December dates, and had no problem choosing flight times, as there were some choices available.

Book as early as you can - once you have enough miles. You do pay the taxes and service charges- for us from Winnpeg it came to about $275.

We were a Saturday departure and Sunday return (8 nights). And I believe CdnDisneyNut is correct about the Saturday night stay - which shouldn't be a problem from what you've said.

As for DS being 2 and turning 3 during your trip - he'll have to be a fare paying passenger; it's under 2 that fly for free in your lap.

About your car seat - call the airline directly for info. They can advise.

Both times for us it was hassle-free, no worries travel.

Good Luck!
