We booked a rental home thru the site DVRO (discount vacation rentals online) back in February for the 2nd week of June.
I checked and they have a B+ rating thru the BBB, they charged my credit card the final balance the first week of May and were supposed to email me the rest of the rental information and maps and stuff and haven't yet. I emailed them and someone wrote back promptly stating there are no problems she would get back to me within the week, that was last week. I don't want to pester them if they are busy, and our trip is still 2 1/2 weeks away its not like we are leaving tomorrow and don't know where to go; but still, it IS an internet company I am not familiar with and don't personally know anyone who has booked thru them either.

I can email them again or try calling, but before I did I wanted to ask if anyone on here has used this company before. Thoughts? Problems?

Thanks!

I have never heard of them. I have heard of VRBO, but not the DVRO. I hope someone responds to you ASAP. It's hard to know what is legitimate and what is not. Maybe someone from the DIS boards will chime in soon. I hope everything turns out ok, Good Luck!!!

yeah, i've heard of VRBO too...maybe I should have stuck with them!

I ended up emailing them again yesterday afternoon and in like 2 minutes she replied again she was working on the reservations arriving on May 30 and would be emailing my info sometime next week...which is what she said 2 weeks ago. I get it, they are busy and obviously understaffed...but then don't post that 30 days prior your arrival you will receive your final reservation instructions...tell the truth and say...approx 7-14 days before you arrive, ya know.

Well, just to update incase in the future someone does a search on DVRO; I got a call today from them telling me my final info was in my email box...it was...it said we go directly to the rental home and it gave specific instructions of how to open up the lock box and code for the week we are there; items we need to bring and what is provided by us. Makes me a TAD nervous that we don't stop in a rental office first; I just pray with all my heart this is for real and we get there and it isn't some scam and someone is living there!!!!!!!!

DVRO is real, credible and a reliable company for us, so far! Have rented a Regal Oaks rental home with them last year. Very friendly staff and we got a welcome grocery bag on our first day! The family plans to go back to Orlando this year and will book a home with DVRO again!!

I have never heard of DVRO but last time I rented a townhouse we did not have to go to a rental office, they emailed me with the lock code so that it pretty normal. Maybe do a search for them on thr BBB site, thats what I do. Good luck!

I don't know anything about DVRO but I do know that just going to the home and using a code is what most people want now. It use to be that you had to go to a rental office that may be 30 min. out of the way to pick up info and keys now most homes are switching to the coded lockboxes or coded entrance sets which is far more convenient. :thumbsup2

this discount vacation rental is a big scam! They ask you to make a reservation and dont even tell you that your money on reserving is nonrefundable until after the fact that you pay them! I spoke to nancy soto and i was told by my sister that she stated her name was angie. Scammers! They say they are legit but at the end of the day regardless what your situation may be they robb your money if you want to cancel. So not worth it!!!! Be ware!!! Stay away from this site online if you want to rent a villa house for vacation! Scammers!!!!! 100%

Ummm ... I just went to their website and the cancellation policy was clearly spelled out. It is a good practice to fully understand cancellation policies (and write them down in your digital calendar) when you make reservations and put down a deposit for any kind of accommodation. YOUR lack of understanding does not make THEM scammers.

That has not been my experience. I made reservation last year and all my cancellation was in the contract that they emailed to me. It says must be so many days prior to reservation to get refund of the $200 deposit. It must be 30 days prior to reservation for them not to charge you for the reservation days. I just missed getting my deposit refunded BUT since I cancelled 36 days prior to my reservation I was able to use the deposit that I did not get back for this years vacation. So I did not have to pay another deposit for this year. I have not visited there yet but they do communicate--yes they do take forever to get back with you at times but once they do they will give you a direct email so that you can get back to the exact person and get responses faster, since they are busy on the phones. It can suck sometimes but they are really nice and you have to stay on top of that email with them. You can fax but it is more one on one with a specific consultant when you email.

You can pester them. Pestering does not mean you have to be mean. You have to pester them because they are so busy. My money is due to come out in May as well. That is on the contract-30 days prior to your check in date. Email right back to the email that sent you your information. Call as well -sometimes you have to call to get another person's email because then they watch out for your email.

I would NOT use DVRO for any bookings. My recent experience with them would suggest their service is poor. They have kept money they should have given me, refused to answer any emails and mislead me when I call them to discuss things directly. BE WARNED!!
