Anyone book reservations at 2 different hotels at one time?

Thanks, smidgy! You know I'm a regular over on Nebo's TR--thanks for the support over here! See, the problem is, the whole next trip is just going to be Epcot and MK, with one evening at MGM to see the Osborne lights. Thus, my dilemma. The trip will be shorter so AK got kicked to the curb by unanimous vote.

I remember you all mentioning the $129 at the Dolphin, which does get my hopes up for cheap rates next year! The only reason I was looking at the Swan instead, was the queen beds. It's probably not that much difference--I always end up sleeping with DD6 anyway so everybody has more "stretch" room.

WL is just such a stretch budget wise, I was hoping something would be available with the visa discount in Aug....BUT, I really just fell in love with the area around the Swan/Dolphin when we were on the boat going by there, and Epcot is my favorite park.

I certainly never thought my question would cause this much of a ruckus...:)

WL vs the Swan, I'd pick the WL any day over the Swolphin.

If you want to stay at an Epcot area resort, for WL prices, rent DVC points for a studio at BWV or BCV. All the DVC's have Queen beds! The catch is you will pay a lot more for Fri & Sat nights, if you have to be there those nights, it might not be doable for you financially.

The Swan & Dolphin is ok but it's not a full Disney experience, in my book. Wilderness Lodge gives me a quitessential "I'm at Disney!" type feeling.

I would choose the Swan/Dolphin resorts over any of Disney's deluxe resorts or DVC's.

The Swan/Dolphin resorts often have great rates that cost about as much as a Disney Moderate.

They are real 4 star hotels.

Deluxe but not as expensive as Disney's deluxe resorts.

The heavenly beds are ...well heavenly.

The Grotto pool and hot tubs are fun and relaxing.

Plus Epcot and MGM are just a short boat ride or walk away!

From Epcot hop on the monorail and head on over to the MK!

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

I am going with the split stay option! That way you get the best of both! We did this at Christmas in 2005.

I absolutely LOVE the GF, but to stay there for a week during Christmas was -WOW - expensive! So we took the great Dolphin rate (I believe it was $149.00) for the first three days and then switched to the GF. It was a great move because it gave us proximity to different parks at different times and we got to experience two resorts Christmas decorations, etc...

I know you mentioned this is a short trip, so maybe this option doesn't work for you, but the move from resort to resort was painless and it would give you two different experiences!

Just food for thought.:)

We only did it once, and had a very good reason for doing so.

We were planning a trip with DS and her family. BIL is in the military, so we were all booked into two rooms at SoG. Then things heated up in Iraq, and there was a possibility that BIL might be deployed. DS decided that she didn't want to take the kids to WDW without BIL along, so there was a possibility that they might cancel--and without them as sponsors, we couldn't stay at SoG.

We booked a "room only" at a WDW resort just in case, and when BIL found out that he would definitely be able to go and wasn't going to be deployed in that first wave, we cancelled the WDW resort room we had booked. (The room we were holding was at rack rate as we booked it only a few weeks before our trip, and there were no discounts available.)

I have to agree that in most cases, it's kind of inconsiderate to hold two rooms, especially at discounted rates which are limited in quantity at each resort, which might cause others to not be able to book the room they'd like using that same discount. JMHO.

:thumbsup2 I think you are just being smart...exercising all your options and planning ahead. You aren't cheating anyone. S&D still has rooms left for Dec 07 so it isn't as if you are robbing anyone else of a ressie in 08. You can also book their rooms through Westin/Sheraton so it's a separate system.

We haven't been to Disney in 5 years and never stayed on property or a nice place. (Last visits with volleyball team so didn't pick our hotels)
We're spending a lot of money and I wanted to make certain I did this right.
Last week I had rooms booked (for next month) at the Dolphin, Marriott Grande Vista (both with plenty of availability) and Disney. Then I spent time investigating to make the best decision. Finally chose Disney. I'm an intelligent, thoughtful person, I've been a hopice nurse for 7 years..I know I didn't cheat anyone and I'm not selfish. Neither are you for thinking ahead. :flower3:

We are having the same dilema right now. We are 2 families traveling together next Oct-Nov for 10 nights. We have the YC but are looking at moving to the WL (cost is significantly less) and we have AAA rates at YC and want them at WL. I spoke to Disney just now and they stated they could not hold or book the WL because they can only have one reservation under one name in the system. If the system shows more than one they will cancel one of them.

Oh well....we better decide soon!

I think people need to calm down and not judge others. This post quickly turned harsh and rude. That is uncalled for.

As is the way with most things......the early bird gets the worm! The OP is thinking/planning ahead and has spent MONEY and placed a deposit on both rooms. There is nothing illegal nor dishonest about this.

I think people should treat others the way they would like to be treated:thumbsup2

Who'girl, you're a riot.
I had no idea that you were capable of starting this much trouble. My thoughts, though nobody listens to me anyway, one is Swan, the other, Disney. Ok, case closed.
If you want to carry the first nights down payment on your charge card, feel free. Cripes, we're talking about a trip 13 months away? And people are blowing gaskets?
My vote would be for the Swan, or the Dolphin. Since you love Epcot, it doesn't get much better than from there.

I wanna see a "newbie" freak out again. Keep it up!

Nah, I'm pretty much done with this--I think we'll go Swolphin. Next time I have a question I'll just save it for my friends on the trip reports board! You'd think I asked a question about riding my heelies over to Stormalong Bay (from Pop) to swim and then refilling my POR mug (with SunnyD ;) )! Over and out!
