just curious how far into 2009 they are booking (if at all yet) with airmiles.

I would be interested to know, also. I am looking for July/09 with Air Canada.

I have booked 2 r/t tickets to California for March 26 - April 10, 2009
(cost 3200 airmiles + taxes) :cool1:

Airmiles lets you book at 10 months out on Westjet, but the Westjet/Airmiles deal where you can use 1400 r/t airmiles low season or 1600 r/t airmiles high season is ending on July 31st this year :confused3

Planning my first trip to Disneyland

Hope this helps!!

I went two years in row, in january, to disney using airmiles for plane tickets.
Flying from YUL (montreal) to MCO, it usually coat 480$ return.

We are 6 flying. Airmiles would only allow us 4 tickets. The 4 tickets taxes, fuel surchage and insurance cost 890$

I'm going back next jan '09, this time I will be using my airmiles on park tickets, buy 3 day ticket and upgrade them after the first day of use.

I will also flight out of Burlington or Plattsburgh for about 220$ US return, per person. for six it about 1500$ !!!

that is about the same amount that I paid last year but with all my airmiles!!!

if you live close to the border it maybe worth checking the prices, in our case it's worth the drive! :goodvibes

i checked prices for our nearest USA airport..only 220.00..but a 8 hour drive to get to MSP..so if i I can get one flight on airmiles-we can fly from home and save the driver :-)

I booked 2 tickets with airmiles, yyz to mco for Feb. 17-27, 2009.

yikes! that is too bad.
lucky for us we are 45 min away from plattsburgh or 2hrs from Burlington.

Hey Carol,

Where are you staying? DL is so much fun and different you'll love it!

Hi Shayne

I don't know yet :confused3 my daughter is doing most of the planning for this trip :goodvibes

She loves anything Hollywood, so it seems we will be in LA for a few days doing the movie star homes and Hollywood tours etc, then hoping to go to San Diego for a few days and I've told her I've GOT to see Disneyland, so I'll be planning that portion of the trip ;)

I've read on mousesavers that the Howard Johnson Hotel in the Anaheim Resort is a good place to stay at a reasonable cost.

Personally, I would LOVE to stay at the Grand Californian..........but I've got to win the lottery to afford that one :lmao:

I was just happy that I managed to used my Westjet Airmiles for the airfare to Califofrnia before they left the airmiles program. Hoping that there will still be some discounted flights using airmiles, otherwise I may be using them for accomodation, car rentals or park admissions instead.

Sorry don't mean to highjack this thread but,

Carol, I've stayed at the Fairfield Inn right next door to the HOJO and the area is awesome. It's just a short walk to the parks with alot of restaurants within walking distance.

If your stay in Anaheim is during Mon-Thurs, the Disney resorts often offer great AAA rates as your dates get closer. Keep checking, the Grand Californian is amazing!

I'm actually trying to fit in a trip to DL in Nov. My brother is getting married in Palm Springs but the flights were cheaper to fly into LA. I just bought 2 roundtrip tickets from Saskatoon on Westjet for $580 plus $380 in taxes and fees:scared1:. I hope to get at least 1 day in DL if not 2.

booked yhz(halifax) to orlando using airmiles for march 12-24 march break here. I booked in april as soon as flights were out to get this busy time using the 1600 westjet offer before it expired july 31st

Yup four tickets to Orlando with WJ courtesy of Airmiles (February).

Ok fellow Diser's...
Can you help me out here?

How are you collecting enough Airmiles to Fly?
I just got an Airmiles American express card, and of course the airmiles card, and I try to put everything I can I the card ( but I'm finding that it's not accepted at any grocery stores I use.. bummer!). I only have about 300 airmiles for the last three months...

Any advice?

And the flights that you are booking .. they are only ferom Toronto and Canadian airpotrs right? We like to fly out of Buffalo.

Thanks for any info you care to share!:thumbsup2

I'm in the same boat as you, cheap airfare from Winnipeg seems nonexistant!

I have Mastercard with airmiles (1 mile for every $15). I buy all my groceries with my Mastercard and it sure adds up. I buy everything that is over $15 with my Mastercard. If a store takes Airmiles I use my Mastercard and my Airmile card and get double miles ie: Shell.

Airmiles flights have to leave from a Canadian city.

I have saved enough miles for our flight to London, England next year.

Just booked 7 flights for 2009. Got 5 on one flight for the lowest miles 25K and had to do 2 on another flight for 40K each. Do lots of business travel so had lots of airmiles and they didn't cost me anything. The taxes etc came to $85 per person so still cheaper than getting flights out of Toronto. You usually do have to book nearly 300 or more days in advance though to be able to get the minimum airmiles rates. There are 11 of us going down so having 7 booked (and 1 infant not using a seat). The 3 men are driving down but didn't want to have to take all the kids.
Got more travel planned so hopefully will have enough miles for an additional car rental when we're there.

I just booked four tickets on Airmiles from Sydney, NS to Orlando for April 29-May 10. The regular price on the tickets was $5700  It cost me $750 in taxes and fees so I am thrilled. Unfortunately, we are about 12 hours from the nearest US airport so flying from there isn't an option.

We use our Mosaic Mastercard for everything, from groceries to pharmacy items to tuition! This will be our third flight for four to Orlando in the last three years, which is great. I usually book as soon as we know our dates so availability hasn't been a problem.
