If you booked a cruise for July 4 were you as shocked as I was to hear the cost? I was told that they were only booking " deluxe" cruises for July 4. Now, it does include decorations, sandwiches, fruit and cheese, pastries, beverages and champagne, but all I really want is the boat!! I am so undecided about what to do at this point....I booked it anyway, but now I really have to think. The $120 is included in my prospective budget, full cost of $650 for a party of 10 which is what I will have is not. What to do........

OOOOHHHH MYYYYYYY!!!! That is alot! Of course, it would be great on the 4th of July. And, if you use that as your BIG meal of the day ($$$), it does soound a little better. (I can rationalize anything LOL)
But , with all that being said, you can always cancel up to 24 hrs. before. I would think about it through the day and if the thought of spending that much $$ stresses you out, why don't you try in the morning for the 5th of July. You will still have a great time and you can eat at O'hana's or Narcooses and watch the 4th fireworks from the shore.

I am in the same situation except I have a party of 11. I am even being charged for my 1 year old.

I have a few questions for anyone out there who has been at the MK fireworks on the 4th:

1. Historically, what time do the wishes begin on the 4th?

2. Is the experience, and the sandwiches and..., worth $700.00??

3. Would you rather do the cruise on the 3rd and save $580.00?

Wow, talk about sticker shock! I didn't get through in time to book a cruise. I would have had to say no. $650 is a large chunk of my total dining budget. I think if you can afford it though, it will be worth it. Just think, you'll miss all the crowds and have a fantastic time.

1. Historically, what time do the wishes begin on the 4th? Don't know

2. Is the experience, and the sandwiches and..., worth $700.00??NO

3. Would you rather do the cruise on the 3rd and save $580.00? [/B][/QUOTE] YES!!

I haven't done the Wishes Cruise - but we did the Illuminations a few years ago. It was really nice and we thoroughly enjoyed it - BUT NOT $750 or even $650 worth!! I personally think that it SUCKS that they are doing that because it's 4th of July. Unless they were giving me enough sandwiches, fruit, cheese and pastries to last the week, and enough Champagne to help me FORGET how much they ripped me off - I'd change to the 5th or even do without. Unless you're LOADED - then go for it!!:p

We laughed when they told us $750 this morning. We have done the Illuminations cruise(basic plan) and no amount of sandwiches, soda, and beer can justify that amount for a specialty cruise.

We will be watching from O'Hana's, or staying in MGM.

WOW! :earseek: I would never spend that much money on a cruise that normally costs $120! There are many other magical places to go to see July 4th fireworks...IMO.

Well my 3 night Disney Wonder cruise is costing $634pp for a cat 7 balcony so I would have to say no:)

I have the Value cruise on 7/3 for 120. I did just check though about the 4th and they are all booked up. I can't see paying that much money myself

Pam

Personally, no, I wouldn't think it was worth it.

When laurenk told me about it this morning, I told her I'd rather book 2 nights in Poly concierge and enjoy the fireworks from my balcony with sandwhiches and beverages from the concierge lounge.

I was also shocked to hear the prices this morning. I paniced at 7:00 am because I lost the number and called for tours. After being on hold for 15 minutes I could of secured my spot for almost $500 but had to decline. It upsets me that I have been waiting a whole month to make these plans even called disney in advance looking for info about 4th of July specials and was not told of any.
Since I won't be cruisin I tried to get ressies at California Grille for firework viewing. It seems disney thinks one adult can eat and drink $169 worth of food in one evening. So once again I had to pass.
Luckily, I was able to get 8:00 ressies at Rose and Crown in Epcot so I guess I will be missing the MK fireworks. That was the whole reason I chose to be in Disney on the fourth.

ILoveDiz- I too was very disappointed this morning. I spoke to PLAY at WDW for a great length last week about the specialty cruises, and was NEVER informed about the outrageous price. They qouted me at $120 for a basic package, and knew I was going to try and get it for the Fourth. We got 7:20 at O'Hana's instead. We will either watch them from the beach, or O'Hana's I guess.

Have you watched the fireworks from Ohanas?

I really want to see the MK show but I have been reading lots of post advising you to stay away from MK on the 4th.

I was so disappointed I couldn't think straight. I had to go to work but was tempted to go the board. I promised myself I would not get obsessed over this Disney trip but I find myself planning everyday. Oh well my DH thinks I'm crazy:tongue:

I have watched fireworks from O'Hana's in the past, not Wishes. If you stop and think about it, you can watch the fireworks every other night too. I am an obsessive planner, but would not venture into MK for the 4th, or probably any other park. If O'Hana's is too out of control, we will be going back to Pop Century for some down time at the pool. I have done the Illuminations cruise in the past(split 3 ways), I don't think I would pay all $120 by myself, and DEFINETLY not worth the $750 I was qouted this morning.

I am leaning towards cancelling...I just can't justify all that money for one fieworks show. I just keep thinking how his is just like restaurants that jack up prices on Valentine's and Mother's Day...totally unfair.

On the other hand, this would be a REALLY special way to cap off a surprise wekend getaway for my partner. She has been working way too hard and needs this little trip. I also know that the friends I had planned on inviting would hep pay for it if I asked, I have just ever asked on the Illuminations Cruises they have joined us for.

Who knows, maybe I can list loads of stuff on a certain action website, make a killing and then not have to worry about the cost...I can just enjoy!

Linda

Well, If you are inviting friends and splitting the costs and you can afford you and your partner's spot, I say go for it. I can tell that you really want to do this. Every now and then, something comes along that we really want to do. Maybe it's something that will make someone else really happy or make lasting memories for us. If that is the case with this, I don't think you will regret it. Make your choice and then don't worry over it. In a year, you won't miss the money but you will have your memory of it forever. As long as we don't use this rational too often, (LOL) I think it is ok.

Go and have a Great time!
