I just noticed that our vacation runs right smack dab in the middle of the Pop Warner superbowl event. I'm seriously considering trying to change my husbands vacation, change our airfare, change our reservations and ADRs all so I can avoid what I'm afraid is just going to be hundreds maybe thousands of preteens running wild in Disney World. Is it as bad as I'm fearing? If you could, would you change your reservations?

Thanks!
Patty

This has been a highly discussed topic around here and you are likely to get many different responses. However, most would agree with me when I say that they don't really effect park crowds as they are practicing or are at their events. We went last year and I hardly even noticed them! You would see an occasional cheerleader around the parks but that was the only thing. I would recommend avoiding any EMH evening as they usually are attracted to those parks for those since they have been at events all day (and even those evenings weren't bad!) I think most of the complaints come from people who stay at the value restorts at the same time. We stayed at the Poly and had absolutely no problems.

I certainly wouldn't cancel my vacation over them (obviously as I intentionally picked the same week as them again this year!!!)

Only if you are staying at a value or can not switch from a value resort.

We were there two year ago during the PW and really did not have any issues. We stayed at WL.Unlike some people reported, we did see lot of them in the parks during the day, but they really were a very small percent of people and crowds were never bad. Every child we met was polite and well behaved and there were lots of adults with them.

Now- We also took noticce of the bus lines during this trip. Always, the lines for the buses to the values were packed. Waits for the buses had to have been really long and I did not nootice any extra buses covering the problem. We did not do out to the values themselves, but I have head and belive they had to be very crowded. We saw very few PW familys in sit down resturants.

It really is a nice time of the year to go. Staying at a deluxe, or at least driving if you stay at a moderate (some kids stay at those too), you should be ok.

we stayed at WL last year during PW and the only time we saw the kids was at MGM on the Wednesday, other than that it was fine ... never had to wait in long lines for busses or rides.
it's a Non Issue.

HOWEVER that being said I would aviod the Value Resorts that week

We have gone a few times during Pop Warner haven't had any problems with crowding, we've seen a few small groups in the parks. However we do not stay at the values. I would think the hotel they are staying at would be noisy, they're kids and very excited to be participating in the Pop Warner Superbowl. Last year we arrived at MCO Saturday morning the DME checkin line was HUGE. After a few minutes they started pulling Pop Warner to a separate line. The checkin line was cut down to half. We stayed at Boardwalk and that was the only time all week we saw any lines due to Pop Warner.

We were there last year during Pop. We saw some groups at the parks throughout the week, and then we were at MGM on the Friday night that they closed the park early for them to have their party or whatever. They were never remotely an issue, and we would have no problem going that time again. We did not stay at the same resort as them though, we were at Saratoga Springs.

We were there twice during their events. The first year we stayed at AKL and the second year we stayed at WL and SSR. We never saw them at the resorts we stayed at. The only park that we noticed them in was MGM in the evenings. It wasn't bad at all, I definitely think it is a great week to go and I would NOT change my plans because of them unless I was staying at a value resort.

I seem to be in the minority here, but if I had a choice, I would go another week. We were there this past Dec 2-9 and made the mistake of staying in an All-Star resort for 2 days before going over to BWV. I will NEVER do that again. I was scared to death my children were going to be knocked over or hit in the head with the footballs flying all over the grounds. Just to walk to the foodcourt was hazardous! I also did notice groups of them in the parks - more annoying than bothersome, but still noticeable. So, unfortunately, we will not be going during that week again. Which is a shame, because it is a great time to go.

They make for noisier than usual conditions at the Value Resorts IMHO. I would avoid Value at that time. We booked once without realizing it and it was crazy. Never again!

Thanks for your replies. I;m feeling much better now. I think we'll keep our regular reseravtion and just hope for the best. We're not staying at a Value so we should be ok. Whew! Talk about a panic attack!. I've taken my daughter to DL but this willl be her first trip to the world and I just want it to be fun and relaxing. Thanks again!

Here's another opinion. We went last year at the same time and stayed at POP Century, a Value :scared1:! This was supposed to be the spillover hotel (they filled up All Star Sports).

We never noticed anything. Crowd levels were fine, and, other than a few crowded busses which probably would have been crowded anyway, it was a complete non-effect to our trip.

We're not going back that week, but for other reasons (like free food :woohoo: ).

We went last year during Pop. We stayed at FW so I can't tell you about them at the hotels, but at the parks aside from the girls cheering well walking around (which was acutal kinda funny) you never hearaed a peep out of them. I did however hear later on in the week that two teams got into a fight at the MK or Ecpot (not sure which). They kicked them out and told them they could not come back. Other then that the kids were on their best behavior :) go have fun, most of the time anyway they are playing their football games and doing cheerleading.

In response to your question and concern, we went last December 2-9 and the only thing we saw was some cheerleaders with the chaperons, I too was very worried when I found out the POP Warner was going to be there but they really didn't effect the parks, just stay away from the hotels they are in, we accidently went for pizza at Port Orleans and it was a horror show.
