ANyone ever been to this resort? How was your stay? I also have friends in Long Beach, how far is it away from Long Beach if I were driving. Would I be lost driving there? Or is it pretty easy to navigate around?

Does anyone have any other suggestions for hotels within the area? How about Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica?

the Del is in San Diego, on coronado island to be exact. . . I can get to disneyland on a perfect day no traffic in about 70 minutes from near the stadium, tack on from the del maybe another 20 minutes. . . haven't been to long beach from san diego so cannot help you there, but if you want to be near your friend in long beach there are plenty of nice places in long beach, newport beach is a hop skip a jump from there. . . there is also the Queen Mary, never stayed on, just did the ghost tour there. . .

HTH. . .

Thanks for the reply.:goodvibes About how far is Newport Beach away from Long Beach? I was also looking at the Marriott's Newport Villas. Would that be a better choice?

The hotel del Coronado is a fine choice is you are primarily visiting San Diego. San Diego is a good 75 miles from Long Beach. It's a LONG drive with traffic. It's semi complicated.

If you want to be closer to Long Beach, Newport Beach is about 30 min from Long Beach. The Marriott is in an excellent location. Plenty to see and do.

I can't afford to stay at the Hotel del Coronado, but the Wikipedia article on the Grand Floridian says that the hotel was used as a model for the GF at WDW. I can definately see a resemblence between the two hotels, and I encourage you to browse the hotel's website.

Yes, we have been to the Hotel Del. It's WONDERFUL! We had a second honeymoon there and would love to go back. But it is better if you are trying to stay in the San Diego area.
