Who has been to DL with their marching band and had their kids marching on Main street? I'm so excited to see my daughter march down Main Street, I'm sure I'll be a blubbering mess. So, I'm just wondering what others experiences have been...do they march in one of the parades? Where do the kids change into their uniforms? They are marching on October 17, which happens to be my birthday too, so I'm super excited to spend my day at my favorite place and with my favorite people...but how hot might it be?

Sorry so many questions but our band director doesn't have any right now and I'm getting impatient waiting for them, so I figure I'd ask here!

I marched in our high school marching band many, many years ago. We got ready backstage and were the pre-parade entertainment. Have a wonderful trip!!

This was my experience too but it was back when dinosaurs roamed the earth ;) so I'm not sure what has changed since then.

Many, many times--almost every year for the last 10 years. They are their own separate parade--not part of the regular parade. It's not on the schedule, so you have to ask a CM to refer to their magical "yellow" guide for time, but your kids should know time closer to the event. They usually have to meet at entrance to Toon Town about 2 hours before parade to change backstage (no picture taking allowed). They have always started at Main St and ended at IASW.

Six times so far. We are local. If there is a parade that day, they will march about 10-15 minutes before the parade. It's fun for them as there are tons of people along the route waiting for the parade. If there is no parade, then they will just march with 1 or 2 other schools. It's a busy time of year, so the parade should be running. Usually they have marched from IASW to TS, which I prefer to get pictures of the castle in the background. I also prefer daytime to get better pictures. They get ready backstage behind Toon Town. October can be really hot or just warm. Where are you coming from? I'm sure you will have a magical day and a very happy birthday!

Oh, have a wonderful time. My DD is in marching band this year. I hope they get to go to DL someday. What an experience!!

Another one from A LONG TIME AGO here! We were in town to march in the '87 Rose Bowl parade, but got to visit (and march at) both Knotsberry Farm and Disneyland. We were part of a separate parade back then too. I think there might have been one or two other bands there. My parents and brother drove out to California to see us (we were coming from south Texas) and my mom was always the one crying on the side. (So you will definitely not be the first blubbering mom! lol)

It was such a great experience and I will never forget it! Good luck to your daughter and the band!
