We're thinking of booking a holiday to Cyprus, Limassol and I just thought I'd ask if anyone has stayed there and what they think? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Ta ever so

Me, me, me!

I've been to Cyprus and stayed in Limassol :D

What time of year are you planning to go Sam? It gets VERY hot and humid there...also, in peak season, it pretty Club orientated...all these young folk going around having fun after 9pm...what's the world coming to! ;)

I went in November once - it was STILL hot and busy at that time of the year, but less emphasis on Clubbing (so suited me better). The beaches are nice enough...they tend to be split into little beaches by little harbour wall things...also, a lot of hotels actually have a bit of beach as well - plus there are a few fishes if you feel up to a bit of snorkling. Plenty of restaurants (yum Kleftico) and shops...and there are buses if you want to hop around the local area (though unfortunately they don't run to the beautiful mountains in the middle).

I liked it...I'd go back to - out of season again though.

Any other questions, givus a shout and I'll see if I can remember (I was there about 4 years ago now I think)

Well we are looking to go 2nd week September and obviously not looking to do any clubbing (well unless they had an 80's night) so we thought we'd stay on the outskirts at either the Four Seasons or the Le Meridien - do you know them?

We would also look at hiring a car as I want to go out and explore etc.

Any other thoughts from anyone appreciated.

I don't know either of those hotels but I'm sure they're fine...all the hotels I saw looked to be pretty nice actually (especially the ones facing the beach)!

Hiring a car is the only way to go to see the island (I really wish we'd done that)...it's really very pretty and they drive on the left which is good - though they still drive in a 'European' way, if you know what I mean, hehehe.

I would definitely recommend Cyprus. My DH and I went there for our honeymoon nearly 3 yrs ago, we stopped at an all inclusive 5 star hotel just outside Limmasol. We went in September and it was over 100 degrees most days (great if you like the sun). Limmasol is a bit scruffy and extremely busy town but Paphos and Ayia Napa are lovely. We would defintely go back.

Hope this helps.

We've been to Cyprus twice, once in Oct when we stayed just outside Limassol and last time was an April visit based in Paphos. We liked the Island very much especially Paphos which is smaller & tends to attract people looking for a quieter time especially off-season.
We had a car both times & I'm very glad we did because a drive into the mountains is lovely to escape the heat and there are loads of things to see if you enjoy a bit of history, monastaries etc. They drive on the left so it's just like home but not as busy although there are not many good roads and if you are touring around you will quite likely be driving on dirt tracks for at least some of the time.
Signs & menus etc are nearly all in English as well as Greek and the people are very friendly.
There are some lovely beaches & loads of excellent 4 & 5 star hotels.
Have a great time!

Hi Fantasia Sam

When we were there we stopped at the Atlantica Bay Hotel, which was out of this world. I do remember seeing the Four Seasons hotel and it looked very nice, it was just up the road from our hotel.

Wherever you stay I'm sure you'll have a fab time.
