We are thinking of eating at one of these restaurants. Can anyone tell me of their experience. Are we nuts to bring our 5 and 3 year old?

You can take your kids to any restaurant you like!

Of the two, I much prefer Citricos. I've eaten there 2-3 times and enjoy it every time. Narcoosee's only once, and it was ok.

I've dined at both multiple times. Citricos is by for the quieter and more upscale of the two. IMHO it's not a good place to take small children, unless they are VERY used to longer meals served at a liesurely pace in an elegant setting.

Narcooses is louder and children are more common, although we've had such miserable service there we won't return.

Frankly I don't think either is ideal for your family.

Have you considered the GF Cafe? Other good choices might be the Kona Cafe (one of the best kept secrets on property with excellent food and service) or the Concourse Steakhouse. Chef's De France in Epcot is VERY family friendly, and has an excellent menu and service.

Are your kids used to eating out at full service restaurants?

Actually younger children are highly discouraged at V&A's, Bistro de Paris, and Shula's. The latter offer no high chairs, and none of them have a children's menu. While they don't go as far as saying children aren't allowed, I think they get the point across quite well.

I think your children would be fine at either as long as they are used to eating out and staying in their seats. We've dined at both multiple times as well and have always seen children each time.

We haven't been to Narcoosee's in probably two years now but not because of service issues. We just find the prices very high and the menu a little short on things we enjoy. But menus change all the time so your experience may vary.

At both places, we've usually had great service. We had one miss at Narcoosee's and two so so experiences at Citricos. But the majority of our meals, we've had that great Disney service.

Pick Citricos, it is the best fine dining restaurant at WDW, in my opinion. I think it is better than California Grill, Victoria & Alberts, and Flying Fish.

I took my 1 year old last year and he was fine. The waitstaff is super friendly and understanding.... but, my son is very well behaved at restaurants and can go about 1 hour to 1.5 hours in his high-chair.

We are trying Citricos in November, cant wait! They did recently switch chefs tho, so Im not sure if there are big changes in menu/food. As someone said- it is Disney, so kids are everywhere. I think it depends alot on how good your kids are in a sit down place- if they are squirmy and dont enjoy it, then you wont either. Its the same as if youd take them out at home to a very nice, expensive restaurant.

I've never been to Narcoosee's, but LOVED Citrico's. It's very quiet and there were a few families with young children when we were there. If you're fairly well prepared and your kids are pretty well behaved, I wouldn't hesitate to bring them. We were a couple tables away from a family with young children and we didn't hear a peep all evening. Maybe bring some coloring sheets and crayons to entertain the kids quietly if they get bored, or some small, silent toy.

We ate at Shula's in September. My DD4 and DS7 were not at all discouraged, but they do eat of of the "big people's" menus and always have. I never saw a couple of kids consume so much lobster and steak. They were happy to bring 2 plate and split their order.

We've yet to have someone at WDW tell us our children aren't welcome, but they are exceptionally well behaved. For the price of these meals, I would never subject anyone to my kids if they weren't well behaved. I believe that they are perfectly happy to serve well behaved children.

By keeping the menus "adult oriented", I think the message is "this is not a character meal and we don't expect your kids to be up and running around". If someone is paying $50 for a steak, they probably will make sure that their kids are going to eat it.

As far as V&A's goes, I think that it's probably more appropriate for couples than families. I've never eaten there, but I wouldn't hesitate to make a reservation if I thought the 6 of us would enjoy it (I have infant twins now). As soon as we know how they will be in a week long vacation, they will roll into "the family dining" plan.

P.S. No chicken fingers after 3 years old in my house...Steamed clams and seafood are the current faves.

My family loves narcousees, we eat there on every trip. It is our favorite place for steak!! We have never had a problem with service there. It is nice because you can see the water pagent go by, and you can also see the fireworks if you are by the window or go outside on the deck. :cool1:
