I am trying to decide whether to make the trip to Cedar Point this summer. We're from Ontario. We were going to go to the Jersey Shore, but I'm not sure that's going to work out. I'm hoping I can get some good info on where to stay, any promotions on tickets, etc. I've gotten used to being on the inside track when it comes to Disney planning, now I'm hoping people can help bring me up to speed on Cedar Point. Any info would be greatly appreciated! :D

I'd suggest staying onsite with a package deal. I prefer Hotel Breakers. It is the most convienient. You can walk from the hotel to the park. It is more expensive to stay onsite, but I wouldn't do it any other way. You'll be glad you did. Check out the link with the package deals.

We bought our passes at AAA. I don't remember what we paid or how much we saved, but I think it was a pretty good deal. Go, you'll have a great time.

Cp is great and there's lots of motels in area. I would check out sanduskyhotels.com for lodgeing. Also most of these hotels offer CP tickets right at their desk.

Jersey Shore is the pits... and I even live in NJ. You have to pay to go on the beach (beach tag conspiracy).. with the exception of a few beaches.

House rental is expensive.

Personally its cheaper for me to drive to WDW from NJ for a week, than a week at the NJ shore.

I love Cedar Point. Its a great park, and its a lot of fun. MF (Milenium Force) and TTD (top thrill) are amazing coasters. There is a lot to see and do at Cedar.

It's worth it to just ride the Millenium Force, at least that's what my 8 yo ds and dh would say. Also it's worth the $$ to stay at a CP hotel for the 1/2 hour early entry. My boys rode the MF in about 5 mins and dh rode the Top Thrill in about 3 mins. Line was over an hour for each one later in the day.

Staying at CP gives you great access to their pools and the beach is one of the best on Lake Erie. You can go on the beach w/o being a hotel guest. If staying there is too pricey there are LOTS and LOTS of hotels in Sandusky and lots of places to eat as well. Our favorite is Damon's in Battery Park, about a 10 min drive from CP. It's so good and the restaurant is on the 2nd floor overlooking the water, beautiful.

Any more questions, please ask. I only live about 30 mins away.

Been going almost every year for about hmmm okay 30 years or so.
Now DH's work gives him free tickets every year. It is nice to stay on site then if you get tired or hot you can go back to your hotel and rest. This year we are staying at the cottages on site. There are 6 of us all 18 or older and it was cheaper than a hotel room or two. Check the booking area frequently as the availability changes as peoples plans change. Packages are usually a better deal if you are staying at CP.
It is just rides, rides, rides all in one place. I forget the count of roller coasters, but it is alot. There is a nice kids area now too. We didn't go last year, but the year before they had a fast pass type system for some of the bigger coasters. My personal favorite is The Raptor. The park is very clean. There is also a water park that is fun as well. You can buy those tickets separate or there is a ride and slide ticket.
Any other questions just ask.

Thanks for all the info...

Has anyone stayed at the Cottages onsite? Not sure where to stay...?

Never stayed in the cottages but have seen them from afar. They look very nice though they are close together and all in the sun. But they have a beautiful view of the bay. I wouldn't be afraid to stay in them.

IMHO, I'd rather stay at the Breakers than at the Cottages. You don't have your own bathroom! But you do get a nice view of the lake.

I think Cedar Point is a good, well-rounded park. It has a lot of good coasters and at least one coaster each family member can ride (a coaster for everyone). I find the employees friendly and the food pretty good. Cedar Point isn't all about coasters, though -- coasters are only about 16 of the over 80 rides and attractions there. There's a bunch of flat rides to do as well. I, obviously, ride the coasters, though. :)
