Hi all, just wondering if anyone has been to Cedar Point? Thinking of driving from Chicago to Cedar Point then onto Cleveland for the flight onto New York. Would love to know people's thoughts of those that have been. My teenage boys really wanted to experience real Roller Coasters. Just don't know if its worth the trouble of where it is.

YES!! Cedar Point lives up to it's title "Roller Coaster capital of the World." If you love roller coasters, this is the place. It's about an hour/hour and a half-ish east of Toledo in Sandusky right on the Lake. If you can fit it into your travel plan, I would recommend it; however, make sure you check their website for park hours. It closes for the winter and has limited hours in the spring until after Memorial Day.

Yes, we're planning September so it's only open fri, sat & sun. Have to shuffle our dates around and drive from Chicago. We are then planning to go to New York so would we fly out of Cleveland? We thought a couple of nights at Cedar should cover it.

Hello, I live 45 minutes from Cedar Point and would be happy to help answer any questions.

If you are planning to go in Sept the park has limited hours after the first weekend in Sept. So be sure check the web page for park hours. Fridays it will be open 6p.m to midnight and Sat are 11:00 a.m. to midnight in Sept.

I find going the last weekend in Aug to be the best. Friday Aug 30 is pretty dead because the kids are back in school. The hours are 10a.m. to 10 p.m for both Aug 30 & 31. But yes I would recommend 2 days to see it all.

I would not recommend staying at any of the hotels on property. They are WAY over priced. There are tons and tons of other places to stay. I would suggest staying at Kalahari resorts. Its a huge waterpark and have an African theme reminds me to AKL. Rooms go for $150 a night but you get 4 admission tickets to the water park as well.

Its about a 25 minute ride from CP

I also live not far from Cleveland Hopkins Airport - 20 miles for the airport - so if you need help or have questions I can help out.
