We're looking to spend a couple nights at Castaway Bay and visit Cedar Point for a day the second weekend in May. Awesome deal!

I have looked for deals at Kalahari (we've been several times) but their prices are so steep its ridiculous.

I was wondering are we going to freeze our butts off at Cedar Point in May? How are the crowds on a Sunday in May? We've been to Cedar Point, but its been many many years.

The crowds shouldn't be horrible, but the weather could be hit or miss. DH and I went on a Friday the 3rd week of May a couple years ago. It was probably in the low 60s which was nice.

It can be cold.
Just make sure you have a coat, hat , and gloves.
It should not be too crowded.

Not crowded like in the summer, but the first few opening Saturdays can be busy, since not only is it newly opened for the season, but there are lots of band competitions held there and school visits too. Still better than summer though!

One thing to remember is that Lake Erie is still cold in May and Cedar Point is surrounded by the lake. the lake breezes are cold. During the day when the sun is out it isn't too bad.

I grew up down the road from CP, and worked there a couple of years. May is a great time to go! And previous poster was right and not exaggerating. Coats, gloves and hats will make your day much more enjoyable. Since CP is directly on a pennisula of Lake Erie, it can be 20 degrees colder than two miles down the road. The frigid lake water makes the breeze downright frigid. And if you hit a particularly warm day you can always take off.

Enjoy your trip!

Dress in layers and you should be prepared for what ever comes your way. I recomend a good wind breaker, has that will help the best with the wind comming in off the lake. Sundays in May are great, the crowds are very low, due to school still being in session, most people come down on Fri. evening and Sat.

That is a good time to visit! We normally go during the week and it is a ghost town... the weekend might be a little busier but a very good time.

We wear long sleaves and jackets or hoodies... and magic gloves... something for the ears is nice too. You can always shove those things in your pockets if you feel warm.

We are able to plan a day a couple of days ahead of time so we kinda know what the weather will be like, and if it isn't going to be good we wait til the next week. Do you have that luxury?

Castaway Bay has 129.00 room rate right now! I never have been there, but that is a good rate!

Have fun!

We go every year in May for Physics day. Check the ceder point celendar for "special" school days and avoind them.

Last year we went mid may and the weather we nice - hit or miss but a lot less crowds.

I can not imagine a time you would need layers or hats and so on. That seems a little extreme. Last week in MI it was 60-68 Monday -Friday. This week looks a little cooler but will about 50 all week.

Have fun.

DH and I went years ago in May and had a blast! I think we ended up going the same day as physics day though because the park was loaded with high schoolers walking around with stuff you'd use for physics. But anyways, I can't wait to go back...LOVE their coasters! :thumbsup2
