I wondered if the food was comparible at these 2 restaurants? We ate at Tony's and it was fine but nothing that memorable. If you have eaten at both please let me know which you preferred or if you found them about the same. Thanks!

We have done both, but haven't done Tony's in a while. MM is okay, not bad, but I can't think of anything memorial that we've had there. I know the kids get pizza, but I really can't remember what we ate. Sorry this doesn't help. Tony's is more ambiance than food, which is about the best I can say about it now.

I cant remember what I ate at Mama Melrose' but I do remember thinking that it was ALOT better that what I anticipated.....

I will not eat at Tonys again if I can help it......I thought it was pre-plated (even though it probably wasnt - thats what it tasted like) and the portions were small. Plus it just wasnt a pleasant experience...from checking in through a lack of service from the wait staff.

We've eaten at both. We probably like them both equally. My DH loved the Chicken Parmesan at Mama Melrose and I love their four cheese flatbread. We haven't eaten at Tony's in a couple of years...but I do remember the portions being much larger than at Mama's. I think at Tony's I had the spaghetti...it was okay. Bbut I'm not a big spaghetti eater and nothing else on the menu at the time appealed to me. I remember eating a ceasar salad and an appetizer to fill me up because I knew I wouldn't eat much of the spaghetti.

We are not overly fond of either of them for dinner, but Mama Melrose was a little better. That being said, we LOVE Tony's for lunch...

The steak at MM wat fantastic. We will skip the yachtsman next time and go to mm for steak. This from someone who lives in Texas.

I had a horrible experience at Tonys a long time ago(1998), but tried it again for lunch last year. It was pretty good...better t han I expected.

However Mama Melrose is one of our favrites and we eat there on every trip. We love it!

Ate at both places love them both. Had a great rigatoni & sausage dish at MM and it was awesome, their sangria was great too!:thumbsup2 Had Chicken Parm at Tony's. It was very good.

Haven't eaten at MM but we have eaten at Tony's the last two trips once for lunch and once for dinner. I remember having some sort of panini or something at lunch in May '05, but for the life of me can't remember what I ate for dinner but it was good. I probably can't remember what I ate because I was more concerned over the fact that I lost my camera and was calling all over Epcot trying to find it...ended up we founded it but that's really what I remember of that dining experience rather than the food!!!

we've eaten at both... tony's is a "never again" and mama's is a "must do every trip!" i hope that helps :)

We liked both but I found them very different from each other. MM had more unusual food than Tony's - more upscale perhaps. It seemed more adult oriented. We had a great meal and a great server! Tony's had a more casual appeal. The food was filling but nothing special. The dessert (a lemon walnut cake at the time) was wonderful. The service there was great too and we enjoyed a little anniversary celebration (as well as participated in other's birthday celebration).

I was not sure why you asked but I think you could eat in MM and Tony's during the same trip and not feel you were eating the same food.

You will hear bad things about both restaurants (as well as good). I think you just have to try a restaurant and see if it fits well with your family. :)

My husband and I went to both for lunch during a recent trip and give the edge to Tony's. We liked being able to sit out on the porch during a nice day. Thought Mama Melrose was rather dark inside and not as much atmosphere. Food was better at Tony's, at least for lunch. Haven't tried either for dinner.

If you're comparing the two just to find a good italian place...you're better off going to the Portobello Yacht Club at DTD/PI. Talk about yummmmm!

We ate at both places on our July 2006 trip. We had Tony's during lunch, and Mama Melrose for dinner (seperate days). I had read all the bad reviews about Tony's prior to dining there, but we like that type of food so I was okay with trying it anyways.

We liked Tony's much better than MM. The service was friendlier and faster (maybe just the time of day we ate at each location?). While our waiter at MM was nice enough, he seemed to disappear from time to time and we found the service to be slow. I really liked the decor of Tony's as well. I had two totally different types of food at each restaurant, and both were fine, but I can't really compare which was better.

On our upcoming trip this December I am really trying not to repeat any places we ate last time (except LeCellier!) just for the sake of trying new places.... but we still have one open spot so we may very well return to Tony's!

Just a side note, we find Italian food at WDW to sit very heavy and leave us feeling very blah, esp in the July heat! If we do it again, it will probably be for dinner rather than lunch!

In reading all of these 'which restaurant is better' type threads, I find that you just have to try it yourself. People's tastes are so varied that it is impossible to have someone else decide which tastes better for you.

I love Tony's Town Square for lunch and do it every trip. Did Mama Melrose once for lunch and never again. The spaghetti was served to me cold. I also don't remember anything significant about the atmosphere at MM, but I love the Lady & the Tramp themed atmosphere at Tony's.
I agree with a PP though, you kind of have to just try a place for yourself because everyone's opinions and tastes are different.

Been to both. Liked both. Prefer MM because of the brick oven and brick oven smell.......

We prefer Tony's-good steak. We do not like MM at all-it was the worst meal we've ever had at WDW.
