thinking of booking to go on this next month ! has anyone been on and if so whats it like, are the queues really bad (i would pre-book tho)

thanks:)

Hi Natalie,

We went on the eye a few years ago, we got really lucky and had a beautiful day so lovely views. We didn't pre-book and it was half term but we only had to wait about 20mins to buy our tickets then about another 20 to get on. It is right next to Waterloo station so very convenient to walk to. Also it is quite pricey, Tesco did used to I think let you pay with clubcard deals, worth checking out if you shop at Tesco's.

Hope this helps a little and have a great time.

Jo

I went on it last summer and enjoyed it as a highlight of a family visit to London. Colleagues who had pre-booked were slightly cheaper but I'd managed to beat them as I got ahead of the main crowds by having an early lunch first :)

We went on it a few years ago when it was far more popular. We'd pre-booked with Tesco Vouchers. The queue to get on was 30 minutes.

It goes round very slowly (DD got quite bored - thought it was going to be like normal big wheels) and you get excellent views - Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace courtyard and the day we went the view was so good you could see the aeroplane's landing at Heathrow!!

Nat if you have an hour or so :rolleyes1 my photos are in my signature link as the troops wanted to see every bit of my solo trip :)

Just for anyones info, if you have an annual pass for the Tussards Group (chessington, thorpe park, alton towers etc), the London Eye is now included so you wouldnt have to pay.

I think there are a few restrictions but still worth having a look.:goodvibes

Hi Natalie
I would definetly go again, One of the best experiances i've done
We went in september and it was fantastic you can see really far away and some great views, Really confusing though when we went we were in the que
for about 5 minutes then we walked straight onto a pod, But people say it can take up to 30 minutes to get onto  So i would definetly recommend it :goodvibes

I've been on it, and I believe it was so slow!! I was expecting something like a ferris wheel and it felt like we were going at a snails pace!! Also, it was kinda queuy when we went..

Although, the view was nice. :)

Been a couple of times

Once on a Hen Night after most of a jug of Long Island Iced Tea (no one else liked it and it would have been a shame to waste it!)

Secondly sober on a works do (heavily pregnant!)

No seriously it was great and as others have said it depends on the weather to how far you'll see but I loved seeing all the close landmarks.

We've done this by day and by night and it was brill! :thumbsup2

We booked a hosted tour for the daytime one, there were only 9 people in our pod and the guide came out with loads of interesting info. If you book it online you get 10% off but the best bit was you didn't have to queue! :yay:

I went on my birthday on the 28th Dec and the queue was huge. We waited over an hour to buy tickets and then our ride time wasn't for a couple more hours then we waited another 40 minutes to get on it so it took up the whole afternoon.

Hi Elaine!

Fancy meeting you 'over' here! :goodvibes

Did you like the view better by day or by night?

We've done it at 5.30 one evening (dark) and had a pod to ourselves, in October bought tickets the day before (with air miles) with no queue and arrived a few minutes after opening time and got straight on sharing a pod with about 10 others. Brilliant views, but we enjoyed the views from the top of St. Pauls equally.
