Anyone been charged extra ordering photopass

Has anyone been charged from post office to pick up photos they ordered from photopass I ordered the photo book and paid $20 delivery now I have to pay £16.60 to pick it up from Royal Mail as it apparently went through customs

Any goods you purchase from the US is liable to pay the relevant customs charges. (Import VAT). Royal Mail then charge a handling fee too.

I think it's for goods worth £15 or more. I had to pay it a few times when I've had stuff shipped over.

Yep - really annoying esp since £8 is a handling charge!

Its a recent thing - never used to get charged and the CDs still don't but it seems the books get caught every time

Probably because Customs open the books often to look for drugs, so that's maybe why they're being stopped and charged, th CDs might slip through??

In Dec I ordered something that worked out to be under £15 when I converted the $s to £s. However because of the fluctuating exchange rate, the customs office decided that it actually cost £15.35 and I ended up paying £11 extra!!

Been caught by customs stopping DVD's a few times (box sets like LOST and the like). Although it was still a little cheaper than buying over here an £11- £15 price hike is a bit of a shock, AND you have to go to the post office fro the privilige of having to pay.
