Avon are advertising in my local paper for reps.
With this much flexibility I could easily work around the kids and university, but I don't know if it would be worth my while doing it.

Has anyone had any experience of this ?

I haven't done it but I get loads of the catalogues through my door so I get the impression there are a lot of reps in my area.. I think you have a better chance of success if there aren't so many. One of my friends does it but treats it more as pocket money than an income as she doesn't make very much.

I did it, many years ago, when my oldest was a baby and I worked nights at the hospital :)

As Lizzybear's friend has found the cash really only amounted to pocket money or, on a bad month, I'd make the order up with items for myself.............:goodvibes

I was about 4 years ago.I got so fed up with it after 6months i packed it in.You have to pay for however many books you want, and the comission was useless.Unless you have quite a good amount of customers who order out of every book-i personally don't think it's worth it.I had 15 customers and it was still not enough.x.

I did it for 5 years, and then about 2 years ago they kept increasing the rate at which you wouldnt earn I think it stands at the moment that if you dont sell £75 or more then you wont earn any commision and the commision rate is less than it used to be. As said before it depends on the area, my area has lots of reps so i only got a small estate but had lots of customers from school friends and mums work when mum left work and i finished school/college i lost my biggest customers and wasn't selling enough most weeks to earn and was therefore paying out of my pocket.

I've thought about this recently but then Avon always used to be known as it was good value but so many places have opened now on the high street which are also good value and people are so tight for cash nowadays.

Just had a thought though....Virgin Vie parties are VERY popular around here!!!

I don't have a rep in my area but my Mum did.
I like the kids shampoo, it's the only one that doesn't make my youngest DD's hair go frizzy:scared1: My Mum ordered it a few times for me but the rep kept letting her down.
We now order it online, I know friends that do too - perhaps this is why the reps are struggling to make commission:confused3
Just a thought.

It probably is as well like you said now that stores are selling more cheaply and you can order online why wait the 2 weeks that it usually takes for the rep. If you can get a good area where you have lots of customers that order regular its good but I found that it was just to inconsistant pay wise especially as the rate for commision dropped and the rate you had to earn for avon before you earned was increased.

I think Avon decide how many reps there are per area - or at least they used to, so not too sure why there would be people on the same "patch".

Dabbled with Kleeneze a few years ago which works on the same basis. All about tracking down regular buyers.

You dont get the same patch but the patches are smaller if the town/area has more reps I have had a patch with about 40 houses to cover and a patch with only about 15 - 20. And not all people will order.
