I just booked a week there using their timeshare rate of $35 per night.

Can anyone tell me what their timeshare tour is like?

Did you enjoy your stay?

Pro's?

Con's?

Would you stay there again?

Thanks bunches!

:)

I returned recently from a stay at the Wyndham Palms. We booked through hotelkingdom.com at the rate of $89 per night. We did not have to attend the timeshare presentation at this price, so I can't comment on that.

We were in a two bedroom, two bath villa (condo) that was 1,552 square feet. It was very nicely decorated. It had a full kitchen with washer and dryer, 52 inch tv, screened-in balcony. The master bedroom had a king size bed and a huge bathroom, with jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The second bedroom had two double beds and another full bathroom. There was a nice dining room table with seating for six. We were in building #26 which had only been open two months - so everything was brand new. We were only there two nights, so we didn't use the pools or any of the other amenities.

Access to WDW was very easy - it only took about five minutes or so to get to the parks.

The only negative I have is that I didn't care for the 192 area leading to the complex. It was not as nice as the Crossroads area near Downtown Disney. It wasn't bad, I just didn't care for it as much. Otherwise, it was really quite a good bargain. I think you will be happy, especially at that rate!

Thank you for posting about your recent stay.

Can you pick what bldg you would like to stay in?

Does anyone have a resort map or is there one on a website somewhere?

How was the service you received? I hope you were treated pleasantly. I am looking to use some of the resorts amenities while I'm there.

The resort looks beautiful.

I don't know if you can request a building, but it probably wouldn't hurt to ask.

The service at the resort was fine. I am a Wyndham by Request member (you can join at wyndham.com). There was a very nice bottle of white wine in the fridge and a bottle of Aquafina water. We also had chocolate chip cookies waiting for us and a nice note from the Wyndham By Request Manager welcoming us to the resort.

You will not have daily housekeeping. They will pick up the trash each day and you can wash your own towels because you have a washer and dryer. I think you can pay for housekeeping if you wish, but it's probably not worth it.

I'm sorry I don't have a map of the resort.

Does anyone have a resort map
I have a map. What would you like to know about the resort?
Buildings 10 and 12 are closest to the main pool/breakfast area, which is toward the back of the resort. Buildings 18-21 are closest to the courtyard pool, which is near the entrance to the resort. Buildings 22-29 are the buildings that are more isolated and are the farthest away from the pools.

Hi J&D-

We are staying in a one bedroom. Do you know if they put the timeshare people in certain bldgs?

Do you get to choose what bldg or floor you'd like to stay in?

I've read some not so good reviews on TripAdvisor.com about Wyndham Palms and said some of their room was smokey smelling, broken things inside the room, extremely thin walls could hear their neighbors at all hours of the day and night, and their view was a muddy swamp area. They were treated rudely, had a number of problems with the resort, and would never ever go back there again. I can't imagine how reviews can vary so widely about one place.

Has anyone used any of the resorts amenities, like the pool etc?

What about the food there?

How was checking in and checking out handled? Was it smooth?

Thanks for any help :)

No, I don't think they put the timeshare people in certain buildings.

The muddy swamp area is actually called a nature area. I didn't think it was too bad to look at. We liked to watch the different types of birds that were there.

Check-in and check-out was smooth.

We thought the resort was extremely quiet. We never heard the people next to us.

We thought the food there was pretty good. The free breakfast includes things like yogurt, muffins, bagels, cereal, fruit, milk, juice, and coffee. The free BBQ on Fridays includes hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, beans, chips, and drinks. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants there.

Go to the links I provided in my previous post, and read all of the reviews here on The DIS. I haven't seen any bad ones like the one you mention from TripAdvisor.

We loved this resort, and we would definitely stay there again.

the whole place is a timeshare - so no you should get good rooms - besides they want to sell to you so you should get excellent rooms - they can only made a sale if you are impressed.

learn "NO" and don't be afraid to say it.

tell them you know all about the resale market and you NEVER buy from a developer. even if you don't you can learn pretty quickly

www.tug2.net

to join it will cost you $15 (some members get very upset when people don't join - ignore them) - you can get in the discussion groups for free - just fill out the stuff (like here).

kept in mind that most people who went to one of these things did not intend to buy - I think 90% of the people they sold too - did not intend to buy - so they know what they are doing in - they are very, very good at what they do.

make sure they understand that you were there for the great rate and gifts.

don't let them make you feel quility if you made it plain from the first that you did not intend to buy. they are good at that too.

We had a view of the "nature area" also. We didnt' think it was bad. It's not beautiful, but certainly not terrible.

We did not hear anyone around us. It was very quiet.

I read the bad review on TripAdvisor before I left and it made me nervous. It turned out fine.

Wow thanks everyone for the excellent advice.

It made me nervous reading a couple of those bad reviews also. But there are many good reviews as well. I've learned to decide on my own what I like and to keep an open mind about them.

I have done a few timeshare tours in the past, and have dealt with some high pressure people. They are your best friend till you really mean NO and then you get the cold shoulder treatment. haha

They know most of us are there for the inexpensive rooms and gifts, so that must make their jobs more difficult.

A view doesn't really concern me much, since we will be gone alot from our room anyways.

I just wondered if one bldg was better than another as far as to location of things. Your description of bldgs is good and will use that as a guide when I get there.

It's a good thing we have these boards here, it's a great help to all of us :)

My daughter & I slept in the 2nd bedroom, giving my mom the master suite. Our villa was on the 1st floor & just outside the elevator & the bins that the housekeepking staff rolled around (starting at 6am) were kind of noisey & you could also hear people talking as they passed your window & maybe some of the bins I heard might have been rolling suitcases too. Although, I do not complain about this because I thought our rooms at the All Stars were probably even noisier & had WAY more traffic. In fact, most hotels you stay at have the same noise outside your window (I was just trying to sleep late). That was the only noise I heard during our stay.

My greatest suggestion would be to get a villa on the 3rd or 4th floor & ask for an end unit that way you would not have to worry about anyone walking by your villa. I thoroughly enjoyed our villa when we stayed in March of this year but I made mental note to ask for a villa at the far end to avoid the noise the next time we stay. I think there is only 4 to 6 villas on each side of the elevator so the walk might be 50 steps or so from the elevator, maybe a 20 second or less walk.

We were in building 21 which I liked cause it was very close to the front entrance making it easy to come & go. There was also a pool within a short walking distance.

We have never stayed at Wyndham Palms, but we did the timeshare tour last year. Our saleslady was nice and not overly high pressure, but when she called in her superior, it became very high pressured. She finally called us cheap because we refused to pay their developer prices and just stood up to leave, asking for our gift. Out of the three presentations we did, it was the worst. We did, however, receive $80 cash plus breakfast for doing it, which made it worthwhile. It is a very nice resort and I would not hesitate to trade into it. We are members of TUG and so knew in advance, not to purchase from them, although it was very tempting. Debby

Debby--

Thank you for the info. It's good to know that the timeshare people can be a bit overwhelming at times, or down right rude at best. We will be prepared for it. I've been thru a couple of timeshare tours in the past and at least know what to expect.

:)
