When anyone asked how Princess Nite went I reply, "we had a blast"...but here's the key, not because Disney made it magical...we and all the lovely people around us made the night as magical as we could given how poorly managed everything was!
The lines for photo ops and characters were WAY too long and I'm glad we didn't spend any time in them (even though I'm devastated we couldn't get the "official" picture in front of Cinderella's carriage - however we did ask a CM to take a picture of us on the side and he was sweet enough to do it for us).

Entertainment was slightly lackluster - Disney tried their best with the show on the rivers of America but it all felt...last minute. Don't get me wrong, the performers were amazing...it just didn't feel like they spent a lot of time putting something together.
But here's the thing - I've gone to a number of Halloween parties at Disneyland and DCA and as you can tell, we go ALL OUT for costuming and never once, have we gotten in trouble. People ask for pictures with or of us...yes, it's against Disney's policies but we don't really want to be the ladies who say no - especially to children - so sure, we'll stop and chat and take pictures with people...no problem. Except for Tuesday...we were told twice that if security saw us taking pictures with anyone we could get kicked out. We absolutely cannot be the only ones who were stopped and asked for pictures - there were some AMAZING costumes walking around the park that night - but did anyone else feel just, unwanted by Disney? I get it...I get it...liability and of course there are bad people out there...but here's the thing Disney...if you allow costumes people will dress EXTREMELY well and people will want to take pictures with or of them. It's just going to happen.
Now all of that being said, this will be our one and only After Dark event - oversold, understaffed, underwhelming and poorly managed. Oogie Boogie Bash was and always will be our thing going forward - where we can dress however we please and feel wanted...and have an amazing time with characters, treat trails, parades and WOC shows.
I think if it had just been me and my older daughter, we would’ve been able to make the best of it…. But I was so stressed out about trying to get my youngest to experience some of it before she fell asleep, it made making the best of it very difficult.
I completely agree with your last paragraph! Every word.
You ladies looked wonderful. I saw a Mom ask a woman dressed like Aurora if she’d take a photo with her daughter, who was also dressed like Aurora, because the Aurora line was crazy long, or maybe Aurora wasn’t there, I’m not sure- and the woman told her no because they’d told her she’d be in trouble if she took photos. She looked just as good as the Aurora at the parks.
