I am looking at a flight that arrives at Orlando-Sanford instead of MCO. Has anyone had any experience taking a taxi or Mears shuttle or similar from that airport to WDW?

If you have, what was your experience like and about how much did it cost per person?

What service did you use?

There is no Disney's Magical Express service at Sanford.

Orlando-Sanford (SFB) is around twice as far from WDW as Orlando International (MCO), so cab fares and pre-arranged ride rates tend to be around twice as high.

Because there is limited air service to SFB, there is no such such thing as high-frequency shuttle service (along the lines of Mears at MCO).

There are are a bunch of pre-arranged ride providers listed on the Orlando-Sanford website, but they tend to be unfamiliar names:

The short answer is that renting a car is usually the best option. You can keep the car for you entire WDW vacation, or you can do two 1-way rentals.

Thanks for taking the time to post the thread links. I knew Magic Express does not go to the Orlando-Sanford airport so I was checking out my options and was hoping to get a response from someone that did fly there. From reading the thread links it seems that most people end up renting a car if they go through the Orlando-Sanford airport.

Unless you would like to spend $200 rt plus tip you would be better off to rent a car. Which you could get for awhole lot cheaper than a cab or shuttle from sanford.

We often fly into Sanford on Allegiant because their fares are dirt cheap from our home airport. We use Tiffany Town Car service, it's $115 one way plus tip. We've only ever gone one way, so I don't know the round trip cost. We only do it when the total cost of the fare plus town car is still cheaper than flying into MCO on another carrier.

Loving Sanford, I was not a fan my first trip, but one trip back using MCO had me a Sanford happy person. The smaller airports leaving and arriving were so much easier. The rental van was $303.00. We had it 8 days. So many times we used it instead of the buses. With two disabled it was a lot easier to fly/drive.

Some of our lights were as low as $55, $77, $99 a leg. It was a lot less than MCO. Best part, they were direct flights! On time or early, but no frills. A glass of water may be about the only thing you will get free, but it was only 2 hours.

Even flying MCO last trip I rented a car, not much cost and loved the offsite use we got too.

I am flying into Sanford next month and was able to book a rental car via Prceline for $91 for 4 days. I'll be able to pick up some groceries on the first day, plus will be able to stay at the parks longer when I leave. My flight (Allegiant) plus car rental is still cheaper than any other flight I could find by at least $100, plus it's non-stop unlike the others!

Have not tried this but what about taking taxi or other shuttle to MCO then taking Magic Express to WDW? I would think that would be cheaper?

That would be way more of a hassle than it's worth.

DH and I flew to Sanford via Allegiant in January. When I booked the flight, they also had a car rental deal going on through Alamo. It was about $130 for 3 days. We liked having the rental car on property too - so much more convenient than the buses.

I'd definitely look and see if you can get any rental deals, possibly with your flight. It very well could be significantly cheaper than taxi/car service.

We always fly into Sanford and use SAMs Limo. He's always on time and very professional. Cost is around 200.00 round trip including tip.
