So right now I'm a little obsessed with eating vanilla greek yogurt, mixed with a little peanut butter & cinnamon, on apples. I'll burn out on it in maybe a couple weeks, but in the meantime, what else would you eat with this to round it out nutritionally?

I am neither but I do like Greek Yogurt! I usually put some chopped walnuts and blueberries in it!

Not a nutritionist, but I am a Personal Trainer.
The greek yougurt (depending on brand) has about 13g of carbs and 16g of protein. Most brands of vanilla will also have about 13g sugar. You are looking at about 150 calories per serving.
Peanut Butter will be your biggest problem. At about 90 calories a tablespoon (not rounded-flat across the top) 8g fat, 6 carbs, 2 fiber, 3 sugar, 8 protein. The only "good" thing it is really the protein.
An average apple has 65 calories, 17g carbs, 3 fiber, 13g sugar.
Cinnamon is a freebie and helps to curb your appetite :goodvibes

your totals would look like this:
carbs-36g
sugar- 29g
fiber- 5g
fat-8g
protein-24g
calories- 275

These numbers would indicate more of a "meal" than a snack. The sugar is pretty high, but the protein is good. I wouldn't think you need to add anything else to balance it, but I would recommend using PB2, a powdered peanut butter that would make this MUCH more healthy, and still taste about the same.

Thanks! It is definitely a meal for me. (by round out I meant eat for other meals or snacks.) I will look into the PB2, I think I've seen it on amazon. Thanks!

What are you eating for fruits and veg (other than the apple)? Any whole grains? Or do you really mean you are ONLY eating the Greek yogurt and and apples?

If so, That is definitely not a well rounded diet. And I would highly suggest you stick with organic yogurt. You are consuming a lot of dairy and, well, without going into detail I would say ORGANIC is the way to go.

Not a nutritionist (real or amateur) but it just seems obvious that your limited diet is NOT well rounded enough. Add some greens and maybe whole wheat toast or quinoa and you will be on a better track. Best of luck........P

Of course it's not all I'm eating and of course it would not be well rounded enough on its own - hence the question. I was wondering what the optimal foods would be to eat with it. I wondered what other things people would come up with besides what I HAVE been eating.

To answer that you would need to let us know everything that you eat. What does a typical day look like for you nutrition wise?

Guess I miss understood the original question.

To make this a more well balanced diet I would say you need more protein, more veggies, some whole grains, and a bit more fruit.

Do you eat meat? Can you tolerate gluten? I will assume yes to both of these for now.

I would suggest having the yogurt for breakfast, maybe with a slice of whole wheat toast or Ezekial bread.

Lunch maybe a large green salad with some protein (grilled shrimp/fish, HB egg, nuts, grilled chicken/tofu, quinoa, beans, etc), and a piece of fruit for dessert.

Afternoon snack could be the greek yogurt combo again if you are really craving it....or perhaps carrots and hummus, or a few nuts and a piece of cheese.

Dinner ...kind of wide open. If you've had enough protein with the yogurt, cheese, etc, you could do a whole wheat pasta tossed with grilled veggies and a bit of EVOO, or a baked sweet potato and some broccoli. If you want more protein how about grilled fish or sushi and seaweed salad. Or just a nice baked chicken, brown rice and asparagus?

Just some thoughts........P

I don't think that the OP is asking for all around diet advice...just what to add to the yogurt! Dried fruit is always good... cranberries especially!
