I'm doing counter service at AK on my next trip. Flame Tree BBQ stood out to me as a great place to eat but I found out this morning, they are on rehab for two months. That leave us with two options: Yak and Yeti and of course, Restaurantosaurus. Both places have a nice menu, but Rest'saurus seems intersting. Burgers, fries and nuggets--who doesn't like that, right? I have read some reviews and they seem very mixed. I also would like to know how big is rest'saurus, is there a lot of room to eat in there? The pictures I have seen, don't give me a good ideal about it. So are there any Rest'saurus fans out there at all?

There's lots of room in there. But I don't enjoy the dinosaur "trailer trash" theme. It seems like it's trying to be McDonald's and not quite making it (and that's just sad).

It is no longer a McDonalds. They no longer have a contract to operate at WDW. It's now run by Disney, serves the same burgers and nuggets and fries as other Disney-operated CS. Personally I like the theme though (it's themed as a palentologists' dig camp). I like it because they actually did some work theming it (read the bulletin boards sometime). But don't ask me how the food is, I've only been there back before they moved the breakfast buffet to Tusker House. I don't like the regular food but I am not a burgers/nuggets person.

It is meant to look like a grad student dorm/lounge ... e.g. a jukebox, dart board, stolen road signs, movie posters. I love the decor. It's all inside jokes, like the songs on the jukebox, parody movies, etc. It's meant to be where the grad students who work at the Dino Institute (e.g. Grant Seeker) live and hang out.

The food is fine, nothing fancy, but fine. And there is a toppings bar.

It's not very exciting food but does have good air conditioned indoor seating.

We prefer Yak and Yeti CS' food but the seating is limited and there are birds to contend with.

Just to add--Pizzafari is a CS option too. Their hot Italian sandwich is to die for! :goodvibes

I agree. We were very sad to hear Flame Tree was closed during our stay...:sad1::sad1:. DH enjoyed the Yak and Yeti CS in Dec...but with no indoor seating and very little shade, doesn't make for an appealing option in Aug. We have been to Pizzafari several times. The kids don't mind the pizza and DH and I enjoy the Hot Italian Sandwich. Another plus is there is plenty of seating in the AC. :cool2:

YES! The air conditioning is very nice! :lmao: The food isn't bad here at all. The toppings bar is nice as well. Nothing to write home about, but if you are looking for burgers and fries this isn't a bad joint to visit.

We always eat there. We really like the food - nothing exciting, but good. We like the huge a/c seating area and the topping bar. :goodvibes

We love the music - never fails to crack us up. Food is standard CS. Uninspired, but adequate.

We love Restaurantasaurus. (geez I hate typing that word...lol)

Everytime we are in AK we eat there. The AC is great, the dining area is pretty good sized and the toppings bar is good as well.

It is pretty much the same burgers and such as Cosmic Rays. It usually isn't as busy as Ray's which is nice. But it does get packed at meal times.

Definitely try it if the menu sounds good to you.
IMO they always have one of the better CS desserts served.

I have read a few people talk about the toppings bar. What is it that? Is it ketchup, lettuce, tomato etc all the goodies u can put on your own burger.

The cheesecake in a glass sounds yummy too.

Yes the toppings bar is wonderful. There is everything to put on a burger or hot dog. Some bars even have things like cheese sauce for fries (don't think this one does though), sauted mushrooms, saurkraut, bbq sauce, banana peppers, pickles, etc.

Cosmic Rays and Pecos Bills in MK have more on theirs, but Rest....at AK is pretty good too.

wow thanks for the info and input. I loved Pecos Bill when we ate their. Great place, two thumbs up.

The fried mushrooms and air-conditioning are the best reasons to eat there IMO.

The food at Yak and Yeti looks good, and it's an attractive setting, but the birds are aggressive. I hate that!
