Anyine ever vacation in Maine?

I have to add my 2 cents worth-I absolutely abhor the "Maine the way life should be". For a lot of people in the state it isn't. Whatever happened to Maine Vacationland?

Dunno and I don’t like it either, from my understanding it was due to the fact the powers that be wanted the state perceived as more then just a vacation location. Which is odd to me as it seems to work for other states why not us?

I will add Bar HArbor as my favorite place , We spent 2 weeks there this summer and it was not long enough.
There is a wonderful hike to a hidden garden, Whale Watching, great food , the rocky coast oh and my new favortie obsession Sea glass or beach glass!

I fell in love with my DH on top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park, so its very special to us!!! That area (Bar Harbor) and the towns along the coast (Ogunquit, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport) are also some of our favorites.

We also have friends with a summer home on Isle au Haut, which feels like the whole island is a park. You can stay in the lighthouse on the island - its a B&B.
