Anybody's kid have Diabetes?

My DNephew6 is in a childrens hospital tonight and has just been diagnosed. We are all worried and apprehensive about what he's going to face. Anybody have any thoughts they might like to share with us about your experiences? I know with proper care that he will live a long and healthy life but today has been really scary. Thanks in advance, guys.

My daughter is Type 1 and was diagnosed 2 years ago. She is doing fine. It is difficult at the start, but after you get the hand of Carbs and counting everything it gets much easier.

The main thing you need to remember is that at meals a diabetic needs 45 carbs and at snack time they need 15. One helpful hint: a Cheeseburger happy meal with apples (no sauce) and a diet coke is about 45 carbs.
