I agree -- I wouldn't be that surprised if Dr. Rey came out of the closet.
You know, it may be true that Hayley had serious issues before he married her, but ... he *did* marry her! I mean, he knew what he was in for -- maybe he even sought out someone with issues like she has. I have a hard time completely blaming her b/c I wonder whether Dr. Rey somehow gets off on controlling her and keeping her in her place. He seems like he wants to micromanage her life. Whatever issues she had already have probably been made much worse by him.
That thing about the food diary ... keeping a strict food diary would be the last thing someone with an eating disorder needs! An eating disorder is all about control -- strictly regulating how much/what/when you eat so that you can feel in control of your life. When other people start putting themselves in the role of regulating the diet of a person with an eating disorder, there are bound to be major conflicts, since the person then feels like they are losing control. Why didn't they consider ... oh ... let's see ... a therapist? an eating disorder residential program? Wasn't she like *80 pounds* or something?!!!!!

I cannot picture him taking something like that seriously. Can you imagine the conversations he might have while you're under anesthesia?
