Anybody want to share a good MJ memory?

There wasn't a high school dance that didn't include at least one or more MJ song. I remember at least one where a guy I liked ended up dancing right next to me during "Billie Jean" and we ended up dancing and had a great time the rest of the night. As a child/teen of the '80s he really did define my generation. Moonwalking and breakdancing were featured at our dances. We were a small town school with pretty much no racial diversity and even these white bread teens were moonwalking, wearing one glove and raving about Thriller and Bad. And of course who can forget We are the World.

We ran into him twice.

Once at Disneyland and they closed Disneyana just for him. We were having the BEST DAY EVER and then I thought he looked so sad. Here he was at the happiest place on earth and he was surrounded by bobyguards and not riding rides like everyone else.

The other time, I felt the same pity for him. We were in Tower Records on Hollywood enjoying our day and there he was there thumbing through CDs, alone. My husband and I again commented on what a great day we were having and maybe we should invite him to lunch with us. I regret not asking him to this day. He probably could have used a dose of normal.

wow that is sad...:sad2::sad2:

wow lady :) I envy you :)

:) I've had him on one of my stages, too, but I never got to meet him. It was when I first started in the industry and my job then was to make sure he had the right flowers, waters, and snacks, etc. Wheeeee. :rotfl:

I remember he liked red-red roses. And I had to make sure none of them were past their prime.

Back in the 80s I had a cuban boyfriend who looked like the "Thriller" MJ! :lmao: He HATED that, he could barely walk down the street without someone having a fit!! :lmao:

My funniest memory was the day my sweet uncle Brad was staying at my home and he came over to visit. My uncle has the mentality of a young sweet child and believes in sweet things, like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.:cloud9:

He came to my room and said with all honesty, "Robin, you not gonna believe this, but MICHAEL JACKSON is in the front waiting for you." By the time I got to the living room the poor guy had to sign an autograph for him and turned down doing the moonwalk....:rotfl2:

That is TOO funny! What a great memory.

I look forward to every Halloween when I can hear Thriller on the radio all day long.

I grew up with Michael with the Jackson 5. I even watched the variety shows and cartoon and then he did the "Off The Wall", album, which was wow.

A good memory for me was through the book, "Ryan White Story". Michael and other celebs really supported the early discrimation of children with HIV, then only know as AIDS. He chronicles the support Michael gave him.

That always stuck with me with Michael. I believe that his "Man in the Mirror" song was inspired from Ryan White struggles.

I had a dream once that MJ picked me up in a limo and took me to his concert!!:rotfl2:

I'm sad he is gone! :sad1:

love and hugs to his family!

MJ was my first crush! Thriller was released when I was 4 years old. It was the first album I ever owned and I listened to it religiously every day. It was well known at the babysitter's house that I would not even consider playing with the other kids until I listened to every note of the album!

I had posters on my walls and also had a Barbie-type Michael doll (actually it was more like a Jem-sized doll, as in Barbie's Amazon singing cousin with big feet). And I LOVED watching his Pepsi commercials! When my mom would tuck me into bed at night I would tell her that she absolutely had to wake me up if Michael's Pepsi commercial came on. She always said, "Okay, sure", but I guess they never aired the commercial at night because I was never woken up for it.:confused3:rotfl:

It's kinda funny because I was out of that phase within a year, but MJ has always held a special little corner of my heart, even through all his accusations and bizarre behaviors over the years. I guess the old adage is true that you never really forget your first crush.

screaming with my best friend when he performed Billie Jean at the American Music awards! We loved him then and I just watched captain EO on youtube to commemorate his passing. best 3D movie ever!

I have to type my post over because i had replied to that negative troll lurker person and it got deleted!

I'm going to share my Michael Jackson memories, darn it! :lmao:

My dad bought my sister and I the video of "the making of thriller" and we would love to go to his house every weekend just so we could watch it! we were obsessed with that and our thriller album. I loved my Michael Jackson doll and he was always Barbie's boyfriend.

A few years ago I went to vegas with my mom and we saw him 3 out of the 4 days we were there! Twice at the Ceasars forum shops and once at the shops at the Venetian. It was crazy!

He will always be the king of pop and I will miss him!

My wife is involved in local music theater. about 5 years ago the choreographer for a few plays was one of the dancers in the thriller video.

Mikeeee

The Beat It video and also the beginning of Thriller. Oh and of course the smilie that somehow reminds me of MJ:dancer:

I was a teenager in the mid80s in a small whitebread Midwestern town. I will NEVER forget when, for a special treat, our band teacher brought in the Thriller video and let us watch it during band. It blew my mind. I don't think kids nowadays, with internet and hundreds of cable stations can begin to imagine what an experience that was.

Anyone else?

Terri

IMO, that's the best music video ever made. :thumbsup2 I can't think of any other video that comes close to Thriller.

DH bought it from iTunes a while back and we watched it tonight. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Captain EO :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

ETA~ I just watched Captain EO. The last time I saw it was in September 1994. It was our son's first trip to WDW. He was 2 yrs. old at the time. He is 17 now.

I was president of the Michael Jackson Fan Club among my little first grade friends. We would hold meetings at recess, and I had a black binder in which I held all our materials (song lists, collectible bubble-gum cards, membership cards, magazine clippings, etc.!). I bet I have that binder somewhere, still!

And I remember singing along to "Billie Jean" in the car and declaring to my mom that it was my official first favorite song.

I also remember sitting in front of the TV with one of my grade school friends (who was over for a sleepover or playdate or something) and watching the world premiere of the Thriller video. Then, I distinctly remember having nightmares for days!! My mom said no more thriller video after that one.

:sunny:

I had Thriller for my View-Master. There were a few pictures that freaked me out, but I could never stop scrolling through them!

When I was little (MJ was five years older than me), my girlfriends and I used to play "house" and we would pick our husbands. I always picked Michael. One of the neighborhood girls told me that black people were not allowed to marry white people and a few other disgusting things. She introduced me to racism, something I had never known before that day.

I went inside my house in total confusion. I never saw Michael as a color and suddenly he wasn't allowed to be my husband because of it. I sat down with my parents and they explained .... well, they explained the world to me. And shared their side of it -- that we are all have hearts and are the same and I could 'marry' anyone I wanted to, be friends with anyone I wanted to and that all that mattered was how people treated you.

It was a sad day but a beautiful day at the same time. After that, I was proud to have Michael be my husband. (Until I saw David Cassidy!!! :rotfl2:)

My son and his best friend spent our entire vacation singing Michael Jackson songs last week. They are 13, almost 14. We were laughing at them as they moonwalked and sang Billy Jean. Their music appreciation teacher focused several weeks on MJ this year so they know almost as much as I do and I grew up with the King of Pop. Last night as we sat at Champps watching the NBA draft and eating dinner, one of the screens was showing the Billy Jean video. My son, a rabid basketballer, was more interested in the video than the draft for a while. I have to admit to being an MJ fan while being totally disgusted with his crazy behavior.
