OK, I’m getting dizzy here searching through old hotel threads. Maybe somebody can same me some time (and sanity) and help me out here. Pretty please?? :cool1: Here is what we’re looking for.....

A hotel that is:

~CLOSE to Disneyland. (We’ve stayed at Hojos in the past, and we definitely don’t want to walk any further than that.)

~Around $125/night or less

~Clean

~Microwave/Fridge

~Continential breakfast would be nice, but not necessary

~Free Parking (or inexpensive)

Other things to consider:

~We’re going to be getting to the park when they open (9:00a). When we stay at Hojos, we’ve always been able to check in that early. If the hotel doesn’t have our room available that early, can we park there and keep our luggage in a safe place?

~There won’t be any fireworks during this time, so a good view isn’t really necessary.

~We won’t be using the pool.

Another option would be to stay at a hotel that meets the above criteria, except that is has a dedicated Disneyland shuttle. We’re willing to go a little further away, but don’t want to have to take public transportation.

I’d appreciate any help! I want to get this booked ASAP.

thanks!! :thumbsup2

I vote for CCI. It's about the same distance as Hojos only in the opposite direction plus they have their own free shuttle if you don't feel like walking. They have a free breakfast which isn't anything fancy but it's very nice for this type of breakfast. They have free parking and a fridge in the room. We didn't have a microwave in our room but I don't know if some rooms maybe have them or maybe you can get one for an extra price? I don't know about that. Except for the microwave, they match your other criteria and it's a nice little hotel.

Oh, sorry, Candy Cane Inn. It's right there on Harbor, on the same side as DLR so it's a very easy walk. :)

CCI sounds good, has the continental breakfast and a dedicated shuttle, but I think the rooms are a tad small.

I was going to suggest Park Vue, Dessert Inn and Suites, Park Place Inn and Suites, Camalot, Ramada Maingate or Tropicana. All are right across the street and all but Park Vue has a continental breakfast. Park Vue is like a continental plus waffles and eggs. I think they all have free parking.

Desert Inn & Suites has good prices on their suites. The continental breakfast is pretty sparse, but it's something to eat before you get to the parks. They do charge for parking though. I think it's $6/day, but I'm not sure.
It's really close to the crosswalk near the park entrance.

Park Place and Desert Inn & Suites both do not have free parking. I believe both are $8 per day. I haven't stayed at the Desert Inn & Suites, but was considering it for my next trip. Just got back from a stay at the Park Place and it wasn't too bad. The continental breakfast had donuts, danishes, bagels, toast, cold cereal, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, hard boiled eggs, apples, and oranges along with coffee, milk, apple and orange juice. My only complaint was it did not flow well. You could be in line to get coffee from one side and have someone come in from the other.

The rooms were adequate, but I really prefer a queen if I'm going to share a bed. Our room had two double beds and we added a roll away for the 5th person. We had to ask for the roll away when we got into the room after an evening at DL, but it was brought right up. I also would have preferred the vanity to be outside the bathroom. In the mini suite it is. I didn't hear any complaints about the room from those in my group in the suite.

Park Vue Inn has it all...free breakfast, light eve meal, free parking, across the street from DL entrance, microwave and fridge.
They have many room variations including bunk bed rooms and suites and the price is in your range.

I second this opinion. Unless we are staying on site, we like the Park Vue Inn. You can't beat the location. :)

Is there a better place to make a reservation other than directly through their website? Sounds great, but I'm showing rooms starting at $150/night.

I realize that this does not meet one of your criteria, but the Embassy Suites a couple of blocks down on Harbor is really nice. The "continental breakfast" at the Tropicana is pathetic: a small (very small) sweet roll and a small cup of orange juice. The Embassy Suites has a real breakfast. The down side is that you have to take the Anaheim Resort Bus, but we found that it came quite often and we didn't feel like we were wasting that much time.

I used their web site. Demand and existing bookings drives the price so book as far in advance as you are able.

Also consider the cost of the full hot breakfast, evening meal and free fruit, water bottles and cookies in the lobby. No cost for ART shuttle either.. I booked AAA rate and it saves a bit.

Another good choice for a bit less is Homewood suites. We stayed there last summer. Nice big rooms, hot breakfast and eve meal Mon-Thurs night.
They have a dedicated shuttle (not free) or ART next door. Not sure about parking fee.

Again book as early as possible for the best price anywhere!

When we go up to DL for a day or two and don't want to cough up Disney hotel rates, I typically go to Hotwire and book from there. I used to go through Expedia, but if you don't really care which hotel you go to, just that you know what level you're willing to stay in, they do have good prices, especially if it's short notice.

Good luck choosing. Have a wonderful time!

You can call and book, but I tried both and on-line was offering me better rates. I believe there is an additional discount if you "like" them on facebook. But, you can not cancel that - no refunds.

The rooms have gotten poor ratings, what are the rooms like?

CCI is slightly further to walk than HoJos and the standard rooms are small with no microwave...

Carousel Inn has good sized rooms with all of your requirements but do charge a parking fee, it would pay to factor that in when pricing them..

Tropicanna also meets all of your requirements as does Park Vue...

I would ring around to get the best prices, also look for internet specials by checking their websites... Park Vue has some excellent Facebook specials...

If you want to save some serious dollars then you might want to consider staying a few minutes walk further than HoJos and CCI... You can get a one bed room suite with free breakfast, parking and wifi for less than $90 and only a couple of minutes further than HoJos... This si what we did last trip and the hotel was the best of our four stays, I would either do this or stay right across the road...

...

I had always thought that CCI was slightly closer than Hojos. It just seemed so far when we would drive past. So I pulled up Google and did walking directions from both. Both were from the driveway of the parkinglot to the street end of the entrance to DLR. They both were exactly .3 miles. So, now I know, they are both the same distance. :)
