I have been considering booking this so my grandchildren can get a better/longer chance to see the Lions than you do on the standard Kilamanjaro Safari ride. My grandson is in love with Lions and the Lion King and on previous trips we have only seen two lions (usually asleep & motionless) for only 20 seconds as we drive by in the Safari truck on the regular ride.My understanding is that you get an about an hour on the Savannah before the park opens. has anybody done this tour?

Haven't done it yet, but we are booked for June. Looking forward to hearing other people's experiences.

We did the Sunrise Safari in '12 and it was a pretty awesome experience. Our safari lasted about 45 minutes with multiple stops to view the animals and for those on board to ask questions. Zookeepers were out and because most of the animals had just been let into their enclosures they were fairly active. The lions however were lounging away on top of their rock and we didn't spend but 2-3 minutes there. Keep in mind that you must be staying AKL CL in order to book the safari.

DVC members have been offered the opportunity to book this tour as of mid April as a perk that is being offered to us now - otherwise you have to be a Concierge level guest at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We will be staying at Kidani in October.

Thanks for the information about getting only 2 -3 minutes near the lions. I probably won't spend the extra $360 to get my 3 year old grandson only 3 minutes with the lions. I was quoted $79.88 per adult for an adult and $42.60 per child. That was our main purpose. I'll wait until the grandkids are a liitle older.
