Anybody see a problem with this towncar/rental plan?

Running into some last minute bumps here for our end of April trip. Contacted our off-site hotel about bus schedule. It changes weekly, but judging by this week's, it's mostly okay but not the best. DH does not want to drive around Orlando so we have a towncar reserved for $80 from/to airport.

Now this is what I'm thinking to avoid some of the hotel shuttle:
Thursday morning ride shuttle to MK.
When we leave MK that evening, rent a car at the car care center.
Drive rental back to hotel and all day Friday.
Drive rental to car care center Saturday morning and return it.
Go to MK and take evening shuttle bus back to hotel.
This way we would avoid 4 shuttle bus rides/waits and not have to stay at Epcot till 10 pm.

I can get a rental for $74 for that length of time. So $80 + $74 = $154 total.
Getting the rental from the airport for the whole stay = $154 also and we would have to drive from the airport which we would rather have the towncar do to avoid getting lost, etc.

Is this a workable plan???

And no lectures re: staying off-site- we will fix that next time!!! :bitelip:

Rent a car at the airport. You won't have any problem going from the airport to your hotel. What hotel are you staying at? Most of them are easy to get to. I think the car center closes at 8:00p. You'll have a lot more flexibility with a car for your entire trip. I wouldn't want to spend the extra time at the car center.

I don't think your towncar price includes gratuity but your car price probably doesn't include gas, parking and if you pick it up at MCO tolls.

but I don't think you can say you're comparing apples to apples.

If you do the car rental for the whole week, the car is yours. You can decide when to leave MK and if you want to take a break and head back later. You can decide to eat offsite at a restaurant not in your hotel or just up the street.

Frankly, we visited in December and rented a car and an offsite condo. The drive was nothing. We didn't get lost. Followed the signs and got to where I was going. We didn't know how far down the street we needed to turn on was, so when we pulled into the McDonald's drive thru for the kids, we asked. Turned out it was the next light up. And it was dark by this time.

So frankly, unless you just have a lousy sense of direction and get lost on your way to the market (LOL!), I just don't see how using the hotel shuttles at all are a good choice. Schedules change, you are at their mercy, you miss it and you're stuck. Maybe think again about the car for the week. Just my opinion.

How long do you think it would take at the Car Care Center? Another thing is our flight leaves Orlando at 7:30 am and returning the rental at the CCC the night before would be one less thing to do early in the morning.

Sigh..so much to think about!
